Here’s everything we know (so far) about the future Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel coming to Walt Disney World (WDW). Updated 7/30/2021
If you ever wanted to live, sleep, eat, and breathe like you were in a Star Wars movie, you’ll soon have the chance.
The Galactic Starcruiser was first announced during the August 2019 D23 Expo and fans of the franchise brought to life courtesy of George Lucas have since been excited.
To be clear, this isn’t your typical “hotel,” but along the lines of an experience that will make you feel like you’re living it up in a galaxy far, far away.
Keep in mind that there are still two big unknowns: price and an opening date. As revealed by the Disney Parks Blog on May 4, 2021 (how appropriate), the Galactic Starcruiser as opening in 2022, but an exact date is unclear.
UPDATE (7/30/21): Disney has announced a Galactic Starcruiser opening season of spring 2022.
We’ll keep you updated as more details are announced. Until then, let’s discuss what we do know!

1. The Concept

As previously mentioned, this hotel is so much more than where guests eat and sleep.
It’s kind of similar to going on a Disney Cruise Line ship, because it’s a two-night all-immersive experience with guests staying on a starcruiser ship named the Halcyon.
Here’s how it works:
First, guests are placed into a launch pod, which acts as a simulator that makes it feel as if they’re being shot off into space. When looking up, they’ll get a glimpse of their home for the next two nights– the Halcyon.

Upon landing, the doors of the launch pod open up into The Atrium of the Halcyon. This is said to be “the heart” of the starcruiser and a “welcoming place where crew and passengers gather.”
2. Location

The hotel is located near Hollywood Studios. Actually, it’s right outside, you guessed it, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

3. Accommodations

Guests will stay in rooms appropriately called either passenger cabins or capsules. They even have windows with a view of outer-space and other ships. The capsules will be able to fit up to five people.
4. Activities & Experiences

There will be several on-board activities perfect for Star Wars fans, including:
- Wield a lightsaber: Guests can experience what it’s like to wield a lightsaber and also put their skills to the test against a training remote.
- The engineering room: This is a “crew-only area,” but guests are allowed to explore the inner workings of the ship’s systems here.
- The bridge: Under the guidance of the crew, of course, guests can operate the ship’s navigation and defense systems.
Speaking of the lightsaber experience, Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development created a new type of lightsaber (watch above) and guests who experience Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first to see it in action.
5. Dining

So far, we know that there will be a dining spot called The Sublight Lounge (previously known as The Silver C Lounge), where guests can relax and grab a drink.
On May 4, Disney also revealed there will be the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. You check out the restaurant below in newly released concept art.
The “supper club” is named after Corellia, “the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the Millennium Falcon.”

Both breakfast and lunch will be served, prior to serving a lavish multi-course menu in the evenings that will feature “both otherworldly and familiar origins.”
Better yet, there will even be a “galactic superstar” who will perform here. How fun does that sound?
6. A Trip to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

During this experience, guests will even have the chance to take an exclusive transport that will allow them to step directly into Galaxy’s Edge. How cool is that?
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel certainly sounds unlike anything Disney has produced thus far!
