Attention all Star Wars fans! We’ve got all the info you need to know to build your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Admit it: Despite your fears of being immortalized as an internet meme, you’ve picked up a broom handle or similar staff-like object and used it like a lightsaber at some point in your life. It’s okay. You’re not alone.

If you’re the sort who has Duel of the Fates running through your head the moment you touch a pool skimmer, you’ve got to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and hit up Savi’s Workshop.

Savi’s Workshop gives you the once-in-a-galaxy-far-far-away opportunity to build your very own customized lightsaber. The result is a souvenir you’ll be proud to show off to friends, families, and even perfect strangers for all time.

Where is Savi’s Workshop?

Savi’s Workshop can be a bit hard to find—all in the name of hiding from the First Order, of course. But you’ll spot it eventually if you know where to look.

Once you land on Batuu from Toy Story Land and find yourself in the Black Spire Outpost, keep going past the Droid Depot and look for the cozy spot across from Ronto Roasters.

If you’re unable to read Aurebesh, have a park map handy.

You can also ask one of the smugglers, scoundrels, or rogues walking about to point you in the right direction. Just don’t turn your back on them, obviously.

You’ll know you’ve got the right spot when you see a familiar blue banner.

What You Need to Get into Savi’s Workshop

When you’re visiting Batuu, you need a strong constitution, a sharp wit, and a keen eye. You’ll also likely need a reservation if you plan on building your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop.

Unsurprisingly, the opportunity to customize a lightsaber is a wildly popular attraction at Galaxy’s Edge. And while you may get lucky with walk-up availability, a reservation is highly recommended.

Not sure how to do that? You’ve got options. You can book online through the Enchanting Extras Collection, call (407) 939-6690, call (800) 800-9800 if you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member, or use the My Disney Experience app.

To reserve your visit to Savi’s Workshop, you’ll need to have your credit card handy at the time of booking. However, you won’t be charged until you arrive for your scheduled appointment with Savi.

You can make your reservation up to 60 days in advance of your visit. Same-day reservations are not accepted. So plan accordingly!

With your reservation locked down and your spirits high, all that’s left to do is show up for your scheduled time. If possible, get there a few minutes early as late arrivals may be turned away.

Look for one of Savi’s Gatherers to check you in. You’ll need to bring confirmation of reservation, the credit card you provided at time of booking, and a valid photo ID.

You and your crew have met with the Gatherers and are now ready to forge your very own lightsaber. You’ll get a bunch of options for customization right out of the gate to ensure that yours is well and truly unique.

For starters, your Gatherer will give you a cloisonné pin corresponding with your choice of hilt. You’ve got four unique hilt options, each representing a different approach.

  • Peace and Justice
  • Power and Control
  • Elemental Nature
  • Protection and Defense

Each style of hilt plays off a different theme. Power and Control, for example, connects you with the dark powers of the Sith. Elemental Nature, on the other hand, draws on the purity of the Force. The choice is yours!

Speaking of choice, you’ll then get to pick your kyber crystal. There are four colors available: red, blue, green, and violet.

Then, you’ll get a box of parts which you’ll use to assemble your hilt. In each box you’ll find:

  • 1 hilt
  • 4 sleeves (pick 2)
  • 2 emitters (pick 1)
  • 2 pommel caps (pick 1)
  • 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1)

Using the parts you selected, you’ll build your own personalized lightsaber. The Gatherers will connect your creation to a 31-inch blade, giving you the power of the most feared weapon in the galaxy.

If you want to make your lightsaber more unique, you can purchase even more customization options at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities once you’re finished.

How Much Does It Cost and Who Can Take Part?

Building your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop costs $219.99 plus tax. Annual Passholder discounts and other discounts do not apply.

While that might initially sound like a pretty penny, consider what you’re getting. Not only do you get the experience of putting together a lightsaber, but you get a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take back to Tatooine.

The cost also includes a carrying case that allows you to safely transport your lightsaber to and fro.

Oh, and don’t sweat getting it back to the moisture farm. TSA says you’re allowed to bring your lightsaber home in your carry-on or checked bag.

Reservations include one builder and one guest. Only the designated builder will be able to craft their own lightsaber.

Because having your very own lightsaber is a big responsibility, there are some age restrictions in place. It’s recommended that builders are at least 5 years of age, and at least one person in the party needs to be age 14 or older.

It’s also worth noting that reservations are nontransferable and custom lightsabers are nonrefundable. Keep that in mind if you’re prone to cold feet!

Simply put, if you love Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge is where you need to be. Especially if you’ve always dreamed of wielding your very own lightsaber. You won’t find one cooler than the one you make yourself at Savi’s Workshop.
