Disney World Debuts License Plate In Honor Of 50th Anniversary

by | Mar 23, 2021 | Magic at Home, Magic Kingdom, WDW Blog, WDW News

Disney  just debuted its very first Florida license plate — and it’s in honor of the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary.

If you live in Florida and want some Disney magic added to your car, go no further.

On March 23, Disney Parks Blog revealed a brand new license plate featuring Cinderella Castle (and it’s color scheme), the number “50” for the upcoming WDW milestone, and “EARidescent” colors.

In October 2020, Disney first teased their upcoming specialty license plate, but the design remained top-secret until now.

This is yet another way to show off your love for Disney. Here’s what you need to know about how to get one for your car!

First things first— you must be a Florida car owner. Sorry, if you live outside of the state, you cannot add this magical license plate to your vehicle.

Second, you can purchase a pre-sale voucher now for $25 plus applicable state administration fees exclusively through your local County Tax Collector’s Office, license plate agencies (DMVs) across Florida, or online through the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office.

What makes this even more exciting is that 100 of the proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida.

To learn more, visit the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Note: As stated by Disney, “A minimum of 3,000 pre-sale vouchers are required to be sold by the State of Florida before manufacturing of specialty license plates may begin.”

The 50th anniversary, aka “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” kicks off on Oct. 1, 2021 and will run through April 1, 2023! Thankfully, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the festivities.

So far, we only know a few details, including that Cinderella Castle will transform during both the daytime and nighttime. Anniversary decor has already started popping up on the castle at Magic Kingdom

Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom’s park icons (Tower of Terror, Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life), will also receive the royal treatment by receiving new nighttime projects called “Beacons of Magic.”

As you can see above, even Mickey and Minnie are, of course, getting in on the fun with brand new “EARidescent” costumes trimmed with gold. If that’s not enough, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will also open on Oct. 1, 2021 at EPCOT. So much to look forward to!

Just think, if you get the special license plate, you can drive onto Disney property in style. Be sure to read our post on Disney World’s 50th celebrations that have been announced so far.
