We’ll get to experience an updated Main Street Electric Parade finale at Disneyland when the beloved parade, celebrating its 50th anniversary, returns on April 22, 2022.

We finally know when Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Disneyland: April 22, 2022. But don’t expect the same Main Street Electrical Parade you’ve grown accustomed to.

According to Disney, in honor of the parade’s 50th anniversary, the Disney Live Entertainment team has evolved the magical parade with new elements for the grand finale.

A New Grand Finale for Main Street Electrical Parade

For the last 50 years, the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland has focused on the theme of togetherness, told through bright lights and amazing floats. The new finale for the parade will build on that theme, taking inspiration from the original design of the classic MSEP floats and the iconic and whimsical art style of Mary Blair, best experienced on “it’s a small world.” (Side note: Subscribe to our monthly print magazine to get our in-depth feature honoring Mary Blair in March 2022.)

In this new Main Street Electrical Parade finale, you’ll spot more than a dozen different Disney and Pixar stories as they come to life to celebrate the theme of togetherness. Disney promises “thousands of sparkling lights,” as well as “electro-synthe-magnetic” music and, in a nod to “small world,” “unique representations of beloved characters as animated dolls.”

Here’s a list of films spotlighted in the MSEP finale:

  • Encanto
  • The Jungle Book
  • Pocahontas
  • Raya and the Last Dragon
  • Hercules
  • Aladdin
  • Moana
  • Coco
  • Mulan
  • Brave
  • The Princess and the Frog

You’ll also be able to spot floats for the Blue Fairy and Sleeping Beauty Castle. In total, watch for seven segments stretching 118 feet long.
