How to Pack for a Halloween on the High Seas Disney Cruise

by | Oct 12, 2021 | Disney Cruise Line

Wondering what to pack for a Halloween on the High Seas Disney Cruise? We’ve got five essential items you won’t want to leave behind.

It’s that spook-tacular time of year again … time to sail on a Disney Halloween on the High Seas cruise.  Disney will handle all the activities for your Halloween-themed Disney cruise, but coordinating the packing? That’s on you.

From costume parties to character meetings and themed nights, Halloween on the High Seas offers a lot reasons guests might want to pack a few specialty items in their suitcases. These are five items you absolutely must pack.

1. Halloween Costume/Outfit

It’s Halloween. No matter how old you are, a costume or Halloween-themed outfit is one of the most important things to pack for your cruise. Children and adults can partake in wearing some spooky gear at special points aboard a Halloween on the High Seas cruise

This super cute look from Tara of @TarouselofProgress is a great example of a more simple, yet totally themed Halloween outfit.

While packing a costume might sound daunting, remember to bring a costume that you’ll be comfortable wearing (and that is kid-friendly). If your cruise is in the Caribbean, consider the humidity as well. A light, breathable costume is your best bet.

For me, wearing a costume representing my favorite character is a must-do, so any chance I get to wear a Belle themed outfit, I will do it. This dress is super simple to pack and gives me all of the Beauty and the Beast vibes.

2. Door Magnets

A fun way to show your Halloween spirit while on board a Disney cruise is to decorate your door. Disney Cruise Line stateroom doors are metal, which means magnets are the perfect way to go.

If you have enough time, you can order some pumpkin- and Halloween-themed magnets from Etsy, or if you’re feeling crafty, create some yourself at home.

This door decor from @disneydiningguide is just so cute. This could be the perfect inspiration for your next Disney Cruise.

Remember: There’s no wrong way to decorate your door, so be creative and bring extra magnets so that you can change it up throughout the cruise.

3. Pirate Night Gear

Pirate Night is a themed night that happens onboard most Disney Cruises. Be sure to check if your sailing has a Pirate Night, even if you’re going on a Halloween on the High Seas cruise.

Whether you decide to go full Jack Sparrow, or just throw on a bandana, having something on theme makes the night even more fun.

Instagrammers @HereWiththeEars showed up in full pirate attire and looked absolutely amazing during Pirate Night on their sailing.

4. Halloween Masks

Since all Disney Cruise Line sailings require guests over the age of 2 to be masked while indoors, having a fun Halloween themed mask can make it a lot more fun.

Check Etsy for cool Disney Halloween masks!

And it doesn’t have to an expensive mask from Disney. Orange cloth or disposable masks can add the perfect touch of Halloween, and many amazing small shops on Etsy offer Disney Halloween masks. Again, if you are crafty, you could even make your own.

5. Extra Candy Bags

Trick-or-treating is a huge part of Halloween on the High Seas.

Disney is awesome and provides a fun trick-or-treating bag for guests. But, if your little ones are ambitious trick-or-treaters, that small bag might not be enough room to store all of their treasure.

Bringing a reusable or packable bag is a great idea. And not just for candy—this bag can be great for souvenirs purchased on the boat or at a port of call.
