2023 WDW Magazine Wall Calendar- Featuring Disney Castles of the World! On Sale Now!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we want to shine a spotlight on an incredible magic-making initiative from Childhood Cancer Society and Give Kids The World Village.

Childhood Cancer Society’s (CCS) mission is to help families with children battling pediatric cancer. With some help from the CCS’s spokes-bear, Adventure Ted, the nonprofit organization sends critically ill children and their families on an all-expenses paid VIP Theme Park Extravaganza. It’s all part of CCS’s wish grant platform, The Adventure Ted Program.

Keep reading to learn more about this incredible program that’s making magic for children and families that need it most.

What Is Adventure Ted’s Theme Park Extravaganza?

Sponsored by The Continuum in South Beach Miami, Adventure Ted’s Theme Park Extravaganza is an all-expenses paid VIP Disney/Universal/Seaworld Vacation, with 5 Star Lodging, for a week at Give Kids The World Village.

Give Kids The World Village is “where happiness inspires hope.” Located in Kissimmee, Florida, Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre nonprofit “storybook” resort. This is where critically ill children and their families can enjoy a week-long, cost-free vacation.

For critically ill children and their families, Give Kids The World Village means a week away from hospital stays, medical testing, and procedures so they can focus on making magical memories. They also run fundraisers like the must-see Night of a Million Lights holiday event.

The resort has been a getaway for more than 177,000 families from all 50 states and 76 countries.

The Extravaganza Begins

On August 21, 2022, two pediatric cancer patients from The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Luna and Leo, participated in The Adventure Ted Program.

It all started when a trip for ice cream at The Salt & Straw in Wynwood, Miami became the first stop on their Enchanted Theme Park Experience journey. With the help of Adventure Ted’s Theme Park Adventure Guide friends, Luna and Leo followed clues throughout the theme park to locate the CCS’s official spokes-bear.

In their search for Adventure Ted, these heroes and their families learned a valuable lesson from him: “To see the adventure in all that you do and understand that those bumpy parts are just a part of the journey to the best parts.”

The Future Of The Adventure Ted Program

CCS is grateful for the support of The Continuum in South Beach Miami whose generous fundraiser will pay for up to 10 VIP Theme Park vacations for families from both The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Alex’s Place.

After Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, those that participated in Adventure Ted’s Theme Park Extravaganza are invited to attend a special event at The Patio At The Continuum. There, Adventure Ted Program alumni will surprise even more children and their families with their own VIP Enchanted Theme Park Experiences.

How YOU Can Help Give Kids The World and CCS

Want to help make wishes come true? Thanks to the generous support of donors and community partners, CCS and Give Kids The World continue to give magical vacations to critically ill children and their families.

One way YOU can support their efforts is by following the Childhood Cancer Society’s official spokes-bear, @AdventureTed.Official, on Instagram. Every 20,000 followers that Adventure Ted receives will unlock one Enchanted Theme Park Experience for a child battling pediatric cancer and their family.

More awareness means more sponsorship opportunities. And those opportunities mean more magical getaways to Give Kids The World and Florida theme parks.
