FootGolf Comes to WDW!

There’s no shortage of activities at Walt Disney World – if someone tells you they’re bored while on a magical vacation, you can safely assume they are fully intending to be doing nothing. Plus, the Imagineers are always coming up with the latest and greatest way to keep you happy and having fun during your stay. The newest addition to the WDW family of fun activities is FootGolf!

Unless you’re a connoisseur of the sport, you probably don’t know what FootGolf means. Unlike soccer, it is just what it sounds like: golf you play with your feet. FootGolf is a combination of golf and soccer, with most of the same rules as golf, but played with a soccer ball, and without golf clubs.

In FootGolf, the fairway is shorter than a standard golf course, and the holes are larger to accommodate for the larger ball. The 18-hole course shares space at Disney’s Oak Trail golf course and is American FootGolf League (AFGL) certified.

The game is excellent for all ages as it does not require the same amount of skill as the traditional game of golf. FootGolf is a great time to bond with your family and friends, and provides friendly competition.

“As you walk the 18 holes you’ll be accompanied by a selection of Central Florida’s finest wildlife. Turkeys, Armadillos, Deer, Ospreys and Hawks will all surround you as our golf course is part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program which works hard to provide a healthy balance between economic advancement while maintaining and restoring wildlife habitats where they can live and flourish,” says Alex Forsyth from golfWDW.com.

So go put on your tennis shoes and get ready to have fun surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Florida.

A typical 18-hole game with four people will take approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. Reservations are required, tee times are booked behind or in front of 9-hole traditional golfers.
