Wondering what to pack for Disney World this summer? We’re sharing your ultimate packing list for the summer months.
It’s hot, sticky with a chance of rain. You must be in Orlando, Florida, during the summer. Notoriously known for its hot and unexpected summer weather, WDW is usually greatly impacted by this warm season. If you are visiting soon, you’ll probably have to pack some different items that you might not have otherwise packed before during other visits. That’s why we compiled our guide for you on what you should pack for a summer trip to Disney World.
What to Pack for Disney World in Summer
Portable Fans
Disney World can see highs in the 90s during June, July, and August, which means it will be hot! Even if you try to head to the parks in the morning or at night to avoid the heat, you’ll most likely be impacted by some hot weather.
We recommended purchasing some portable fans that you can easily keep around your neck with a lanyard. These lightweight, colorful battery-powered fans will keep you cool in both the literal and figurative sense. Check out these Deluxe Necklace Fans that have a 12-hour runtime and adjustable lanyards. Another great option is a Portable Neck Fan that sits around your neck and is rechargeable, making it a convenient cool option.
Poncho
Central Florida is known for some afternoon rain storms. While sometimes they only last 30 minutes to an hour, you still want to stay dry. Whether you head into a Pavilion in EPCOT, visit the Emporium in Magic Kingdom, grab a treat in the ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios, or visit “It’s Tough to be a Bug” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there are lots of places to duck into to avoid the rain. But you might want to make the most of your day and just embrace the rain! And that’s totally ok! People are always enjoying Walt Disney World.
We recommend you pack a poncho for your trip. Disney is known for charging a lot of money for their ponchos during a rainstorm, and they are usually disposable- you wear them once and you’re done. We recommend purchasing a Waterproof Reusable Rain Poncho that actually folds up into a compact size that’s easy to carry.
Cooling Towel
In addition to a portable fan, you’ll probably want to make sure you also pack a set of cooling towels. What do cooling towels actually do? They keep your body temperature low, which prevents heat exhaustion. Think of the heat you’ll probably experience at Disney, especially if you are visiting a park like Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where there are fewer places to air conditioning. We recommend getting a cooling towel for everyone in your family and easily stowing them away in your bags.
A great option for cooling towels includes this 4-Pack of Cooling Towels made of a Microfiber material that stays cold for 3 hours.
Reusable Water Bottle
If you are visiting Disney during the summer, you’ll want to stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion. While you are able to purchase bottled water in the parks, packing a reusable water bottle is a great option to save some money. Most quick-service locations will provide you with a free cup of ice water, which is a great perk that most people aren’t aware of. Whether you want to get a free cup of ice or fill up your water yourself, a reusable water bottle is a great item to have on hand.
If you’re worried about carrying a reusable bottle around Disney, we have a solution for you! Consider purchasing this Collapsible Water Bottle with a leakproof valve that is BPA-free. It makes carrying a water bottle super simple, and you’ll stay hydrated!
Sunscreen/Aloe
Walking around the parks can give us quite the sunburn if you are anything like us. The summer sun is hot, and not applying sunscreen will make you look redder than Sebastian. We love you, Sebastian, but we want to avoid the red. While there are places around Disney World where you can purchase sunscreen from, they might be a bit more expensive than bringing your own sunscreen. That’s why we recommend you pack some spray-on sunscreen and aloe to avoid any problems.
Picking up a two-pack of Coppertone SPORT Sunscreen before your trip is a great option to save money and your skin. If you happen to get a little red, we have a solution for you. Our favorite item is the Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion. It helps turn your burn into a tan and keeps your skin hydrated.
Sandals
You might be wondering; they are telling us it’s going to be hot and rainy, do I want to wear sandals? Whether you are heading to your resort for a pool day or walking around the parks, you want to be comfortable in your shoes. Thanks to new technology, you can grab a pair of quick-drying sandals, like these TEVA Women’s Universal Sandals, which will keep your feet dry and cool. They are perfect for rain-and-shine situations and keep you running around your favorite park.
