While Walt Disney World Resorts may not be hosting their gingerbread displays this year, there’s still plenty of new and familiar ways to celebrate the holidays at Disney this year!
With Christmas coming up soon, it is time to start plotting out which parks are hosting which holiday experiences and where to get your fill of Christmas goodies.
If you are a gingerbread house lover though, I happen to be the unfortunate bearer of bad news: Walt Disney World resorts will not be having gingerbread displays as in previous years. And with Disney Cruise line voyages paused, there won’t be any high-seas displays, either.
Disney Park Blog clarified the reason, stating: “While we know they are a favorite of people taking in the holiday décor, we’re not able to include those displays due to physical distancing guidelines.”
Get your Gingerbread Fix
While we will miss the gingerbread houses and sculptures on display this year, we can’t stay disappointed too long.
There are many festive alternatives to the gingerbread displays! With gingerbread treats and even one display still available, you can discover Christmas traditions this year that are just as sweet.
Gingerbread Capital City in Epcot

EPCOT will be the home to a large gingerbread construction site this year! Last year, the American Adventure Pavilion was the host of a fantastic display of Monument Park.
This year you can find another gingerbread house creation in the World ShowPlace building that will include the United States Capitol Building, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and a 5-foot tall Washington Monument. You won’t want to miss it!
Holiday Cookie Stroll at EPCOT

If your sweet tooth needs addressing, then you should participate in the Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays and the Holiday Cookie Stroll. Grab a passport, purchase a Cookie Stroll Cookie Jar, and find the five secret locations to purchase a cookie and get a stamp.
As per the Walt Disney World website, find and purchase all five and you can “bring your Passport to the Sweets & Treats Holiday Kitchen to receive a complimentary Peppermint Minnie Cookie”!
Disney Resort Christmas Trees

Resorts known for their outstanding Gingerbread House creations, such as Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Hotel, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Beach and Yacht Clubs, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, will now be home to giant Christmas tree displays.
If last year’s exhibits are any indication, these beautiful masterpieces are a must see this holiday season!
Find All of the Santas in Walt Disney World

Each park will be having its own Santa sightings, so the kids can play a fun game of “Where’s Santa?”
See if you can find him at every location (including Disney Springs!) He may be in a Cavalcade, or he might be just taking a stroll, but wherever he is be sure he hears your Christmas wish list!
Gingerbread Lattes at Disney

Gingerbread Latte lovers, you will definitely be hunting for this specialty drink.
For a limited time, The Market at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has added this to their seasonal offerings.
Another option is ordering a White Chocolate Gingerbread Latte (hot or iced) from Joffrey’s Seasonal Beverages menu. This latte is crafted with white chocolate sauce and gingerbread syrup, and is topped with whipped cream (I ask for extra whip).
You can’t go wrong with anything you do this holiday season at Walt Disney World. Whatever you choose, know that all of your dreams will come true in the most magical place in the world!
