Why You Should Follow Theme Park Millennial On Instagram

by | Mar 5, 2021 | Walt Disney World

Disney fans across the globe follow Theme Park Millennial on Instagram. Read on to find out why you should start following him, too!

Geoffrey, @ThemeParkMillennial on Instagram, was one of the first people I started following when I created my Disney-centred Instagram account. I was new to the whole Disneyverse, so I typed in “Disney Influencers” to see who everyone else was following, and Geoffrey was at the top of most lists.

Over the next few months, I have learned why he is so beloved. He is joyful and carefree, sharing all of the beauty and goodness that Disney can bring. In doing so, his followers get a front-row seat into all things Walt Disney World.

A Disney Fan From the Start

Geoffrey was born and raised in Indiana, a long way from Orlando. Even so, he can remember the first time that his family brought him to Walt Disney World when he was a young child.

“Growing up, our family always went to Daytona,” he said. The main thing he remembers from his first trip to Walt Disney World was riding the monorail. “I remember the monorail voiceover, I remember the monorail doors that I was fascinated with, and I was obsessed with the monorail.”

Geoffrey’s Disney love then spread to Disney movies and shows.

“I’m a 90s kid… Disney Channel was in its prime… High School Musical came out when I was in sixth grade. My idea of high school was High School Musical,” something that he was quick to point out was not a good idea at all.

From there, Disney became part of Geoffrey’s life and showed up everywhere, including wearing a Hercules grad cap for his undergraduate graduation. Fantasmic was his graduate degree cap.

Living in Tampa while attending USF had an additional bonus.

“As soon as I had the money to put the down payment on the Annual Pass, I [knew that I was] getting it.” He has been to Walt Disney World at least once a month ever since.

Why Disney is an Escape

Walt Disney World is always an escape for all of us, but especially for Geoffrey.

“When I go, I forget about the problems of work, I forget about the problems of the world, but it is so much more than that. It’s almost healing.”

For him, Disney is a “community. It is home.” Being a part of this online community, he has met amazing people, and he is even more connected to park releases, even while he is back in Indiana.

This escape allowed Geoffrey to be who he is. “When I first came out,” he said, “the reason I felt confident enough about coming out was the Disney community and the gay community I found at that time both in Orlando and Tampa.”

His style is also an expression of himself. Geoffrey wears a sporty style with a Disney twist.

His focus is driven mainly by comfort interspersed with Disney-inspired gear. His “athleisure” wear is perfect for a day at the park or heading out for a quick bite to eat, or simply lounging around watching Disney+.

To create some of his ensembles, Geoffrey has a simple formula: use what you already have.

For instance, pulling off a Snow White look only requires “the right colors and an apple bag. If you have blue and yellow in your outfit”, matched with the right accessory, people will be able to piece it together.

For example, check out his Business Casual Minnie Mouse look!

Geoffrey’s Favorite Parks and Experiences

Geoffrey has an affinity for all things EPCOT. He loves the festivals offered throughout the year– his favorite is the International Festival of the Arts.

“I usually do the Broadway dinner package,” Geoffrey says. “Seeing the merge of Disney and Broadway at EPCOT is beautiful.”

His website, ThemeParkMillennial.com, has excellent tips and advice on many Disney strategies, as well as insights into newsworthy Disney releases.
