WDW Magazine’s Favorite Sandwiches at Disney Parks

The WDW Magazine team is sharing our picks for the best, most delicious sandwiches you can find at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

August is National Sandwich Month, which is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some of the very best sandwiches the Disney parks have to offer. If you’re a sandwich fan, both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts have plenty of options on the menus of their many dining establishments. And of course, we’re big fans of all things tasty at Disney parks – so we’re sharing the WDW Magazine team’s favorite, must-try sandwiches from the theme parks, resorts, and beyond.

Below, discover our favorite sandwiches at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and make sure to pick up these tasty options during your next theme park visits.

Our Favorite Sandwiches at Walt Disney World

Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese at ABC Commissary

Abby Richardson, WDW Magazine’s Graphic Designer, can’t get enough of the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese: “It’s super cheesy, the bread is still crispy (not soggy!), and there’s even an extra side of Buffalo dipping sauce served with it if you want a little extra heat. It’s paired with crispy steak fries, and it will forever be my go-to meal at DHS.”

Featuring sourdough bread, Buffalo chicken, and a mix of multiple cheeses (Monterey, provolone, cheddar, and cream cheese), this is one serious grilled cheese. You’ll find this cheesy delight of a sandwich at ABC Commissary inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since this is a quick service spot, there’s no need to make reservations in advance to try it – in fact, you can mobile order the sandwich and grab it whenever hunger strikes!

French Dip at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory

You probably aren’t thinking of sandwiches when Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory first comes to mind – but there are some great options on the menu here! According to Stephanie Shuster, WDW Magazine CEO, the French Dip is “To. Die. For. I think about it way more often than I should. [It’s] definitely a hidden gem! It has soft buttery bread, tender roast beef, and a flavor-packed side of au jus. It’s nothing special to look at, but it’s worth sacrificing your Instagram feed for this one.”

Unfortunately, you won’t currently find this standout sandwich on the menu at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory in Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. While it was previously a staple, it was removed in 2023. But we recommend keeping an eye out for it the next time you’re visiting Port Orleans Resort and looking for a delicious dining option with sandwiches on the menu.

1762 The Original from Earl of Sandwich

Gregg Taylor, WDW Magazine’s Membership Coordinator, highly recommends a staple from the Earl of Sandwich: “The 1762 The Original is delicious. Beef, cheese, and horseradish on a super-soft bun, [it’s] all wrapped up like a little gold brick of love.”

You can find this relatively simple sandwich at any Earl of Sandwich location, including Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs shop and Disneyland’s Downtown Disney restaurant. Though it might seem slim in hand, this is a sandwich that’ll satisfy your hunger and deliver some fantastic flavor – and it’s a great grab-and-go option when you’re wandering through Disney Springs, with no reservations and very little wait required.

Bison Cheeseburger at Geyser Point Bar & Grill

If you’re looking for a burger that’ll really wow you, Cathy Salustri, WDW Magazine’s Copy Editor, has one you absolutely can’t miss: “[The] Bison Cheeseburger at Geyser Point; I will go out of my way for this.”

Located in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Geyser Point Bar & Grill is a great place to grab a bite outside of the theme parks (and traditional restaurant dining spots). With this incredible burger on the menu, you definitely won’t leave hungry. In the middle of its bun, you’ll find ground bison meat along with bacon, sweet crispy onion straws, marionberry sauce, and garlic aioli.

Our Favorite Sandwiches at Disneyland

Monte Cristo at Café Orleans or Blue Bayou

There’s perhaps no sandwich more beloved and highly touted (just one look at Instagram will tell you how much Disney fans enjoy this dish!) than the Monte Cristo. This classic choice, which is a favorite of Gina Varolli, DLR Magazine’s Managing Editor, available at both Café Orleans and Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square, makes for one seriously hearty meal. Layers of sliced turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese sit between deep-fried bread slices with a sprinkle of powdered sugar over top.

It’s a hard sandwich to beat if you love a good Monte Cristo! However, this is a meal that can be tough to finish alone if you don’t have a huge appetite – so make plans to share it with a friend.

Beef Birria Toasted Cheese from Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe

The QuesaBirria Tacos from Cocina Cucamonga in Disney California Adventure Park are Instagram famous, but I personally love a cheesier combo over at Disneyland Park: the Beef Birria Toasted Cheese. This meaty version of a classic grilled cheese packs a lot of flavor and (my absolutely favorite) perfectly melted pepper jack cheese.

In between two slices of sourdough bread, this sandwich features that flavorful beef birria alongside onion, cilantro, and salsa verde. It’s served with a cup of consommé, which is perfect for dipping and making every bite even more delicious!

Not So Little Chicken Sandwich

If you’re looking for a fun sandwich that’s totally on theme, I suggest heading over to Pym Test Kitchen in Disney California Adventure. Here, you’ll find the Not So Little Chicken Sandwich, which is both gigantic and ridiculously small at the same time. It’s a treat to eat and see in person, thanks to the oversized fried chicken breast and the super small brioche bun. It comes with two sauces for customizing the flavor – teriyaki and red chili – and some crunchy pickled cabbage slaw for a little zing.

This is definitely a fork-and-knife sandwich, so don’t try to eat it with your hands! But the good news is you can easily mobile order this meal and split it with a friend if your appetite isn’t as big as the giant hunk of fried chicken in between the two halves of the teeny bun.
