Here’s how you can watch a livestream of the official reopening of Animal Kingdom’s Festival of the Lion King, from the comfort of your own home!
It’s an exciting day when yet another piece of entertainment returns to Walt Disney World (WDW).
Disney first announced in January that Festival of the Lion King would make its triumphant return this summer.
Then, in April, WDW Resort President Jeff Vahle shared on Instagram that the beloved and extremely popular show would be opening sometime in mid-May.
Guess what? Festival of the Lion King, which is now technically called “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” since there are modifications for health and safety reasons, officially reopens on May 15 — and you can enjoy the big moment from the comfort of your own home!
Festival of the Lion King Livestream
As announced by the Disney Parks Blog on Friday, May 14, you can enjoy a one-time livestream of Festival of the Lion King’s return on the Parks blog at 12:25 PM ET.
This livestream will also be of the first official show.
On Saturday, May 8, soft openings of Festival of the Lion King began at the park. At the time, BlogMickey.com reported Cast Members made it clear that the show wouldn’t officially reopen until May 15.

The show may be a bit different than you remember, because staging and choreography have changed to keep in line with Disney’s health and safety measures.
Certain parts of the show have also been “pared down,” including the acrobatics, as detailed by the Disney Parks Blog.
That said, the show will no doubt continue to be spectacular!
Also, when it comes to seeing Festival of the Lion King in person, seating will be limited. You’ll definitely have to plan accordingly and will most likely want to get in line early for at least one of the performances.
You can check showtimes online and via the My Disney Experience app. For the May 15 showing, times are as follows: 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM.
And, of course, you should take advantage of the Disney Parks Blog livestream.
Now, it’s not the same as seeing the show in person, but it’s still a chance to see the amazing performers in action (and a great way to show support).
