Walt Disney World Day
On December 3, 2021, “Walt Disney World Day” was declared across Central Florida in celebration of the theme park’s impact on the area. The official proclamation came from Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, and Orange County Mayor, Jerry Demings, at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The two were joined by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who were wearing their 50th-anniversary EARidescent outfits. You can watch a video from the day below.
“Walt Disney World has made Orlando synonymous with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and all things supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” Mayor Deyer said at the ceremony. The proclamation served as a way to honor Disney’s impact on the community over the previous 50 years, at the time. To emphasize that impact, Disney VoluntEARS was also on hand to help sort and pack food boxes for distribution at Second Harvest Food Bank.
Alongside the event, Disney Parks Blog also released a full resolution. You can read that in its entirety below.
