With so many unique snack options across Disney’s theme parks, I’ll never understand why churros are such a popular choice.
As someone who’s at Disneyland and Disney World regularly, I’m always baffled by one incredibly popular snack: churros. Disney fans love churros, and to some extent, I get it. After all, churros are a popular street vendor snack around the world, and they’re a staple at Disney Parks as well as county fairs and other theme parks.
But there are so many different snack options available at both Disneyland and Disney World – which is why all of the churro love confuses me. You can try the grey stuff from Beauty and the Beast, snack on an incredible Monte Cristo, or try one of Tiana’s beignets from The Princess and the Frog. So why settle for a basic churro?
Below, I’m sharing why I think churros are the worst Disney Parks snack you can choose (and yes, I know it’s an unpopular stance to take!).
Disney’s Churros Vary Too Much in Quality and Texture

While most Disney Parks food is nicely consistent – I always have the same excellent food at places like Carnation Cafe at Disneyland and Tiffins Restaurant at Disney World, for example – I’ve found churros are not. At some churro carts, you might get a perfectly warm and slightly crispy yet soft churro. At others? Your churro could be cold, have wonky toppings, or even be sadly soggy.
As someone who’s already an outspoken Disney World churro hater, I’ve learned firsthand there’s an even bigger difference between the ones served at Disneyland versus Disney World. I’m lucky enough to get Disney’s very best churros here in Southern California. Disney World guests, meanwhile, have to suffer less crispy, far less delicious options.
The significant difference between Disneyland and Disney World churros is enough for me to skip them any time I’m at Disney World. But even within the same theme park, I’ve found churros can really vary. Sometimes you’ll get a perfect churro, but just a few steps away you may get one that’s much worse.
And when you can easily have decadent, always-delicious milkshakes, sundaes, stuffed waffles (or even churro waffles), and even Mickey Ice Cream Bars that never fail to please, I don’t know why you’d opt for anything subpar. I like my snacks and sweet treats to be guaranteed to please – and Disney’s churros don’t pass that test.
Disney’s Churros Have Way Too Many Toppings

Another gripe I have with Disney’s churros is the toppings. Specialty churros are hugely popular across the theme parks at both Disney World and Disneyland – but for the most part, I can’t stand them.
I’ve never been a funnel cake fan, and these toppings-loaded churros remind me of a funnel cake. They’re messy to eat, covered in sticky-sweet syrups, entire handfuls of sprinkles, and far too much frosting (and I’m saying that as someone who will only eat the frosting off of cupcakes).
More importantly, these specialty churros at Disney World and Disneyland are often so jam-packed with different flavors and feature such wild flavor combinations that they’re kind of gross.
Just take the Banana Split Churro at California Adventure served for summer 2025, which features chocolate sugar, banana-flavored sauce, vanilla sauce, and a cherry on top. Or if that sounds tame, what about the Worms ‘n Dirt Churro sold at Magic Kingdom Park in fall 2024? It featured a sprinkling of “dirt” in the form of cookies and cream dust, a layer of marshmallow, and gummy worms. The S’mores Churro, another bad idea, featured a chocolate sugar topping (which looked an awful lot like dirt), chocolate chips, whipped cream, and marshmallow topping.
These combinations go way beyond a colorful sugar-covered churro and a dipping sauce. They’re a lot – and since you’re getting two churros per serving, they’re so massive and so incredibly sugar-packed that no one in my family can finish them. The sweetness is so overpowering that if you aren’t a frequent sugar consumer, you’ll be gobsmacked by these special churros for hours.
Ultimately, I find that the specialty churros found at Disneyland and Disney World are too, too much. Sure, they take a basic and classic theme park snack to new heights… but why reinvent an already great option?
I’d Never Choose Churros Over Unique Disney Snacks
In my opinion, there’s simply so much else to try at Disney Parks beyond churros. If I can get a perfectly decent churro at, say, Knott’s Berry Farm or the Orange County Fair, I’d much rather spend my day at Disneyland eating Mickey-shaped foods I truly can’t find anywhere else. Ice cream does taste different when it’s Mickey-shaped, after all.
