American Adventure

This week in Walt Disney World, we celebrated the Fourth of July at Epcot! Here’s a look at the special food and entertainment we found!

If you missed the live coverage of our trip to Epcot, make sure to follow us on Instagram so you don’t miss out on future park visits!

Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky

Ok, so, technically this one isn’t at Epcot, but I wanted to include it anyway because it’s a really great show! Each year on July 3rd and 4th, guests at Magic Kingdom are treated to Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.

I’ve watched this show from the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Resort two years in a row. Magic Kingdom can get a little too packed for my liking on the Fourth of July, so for me the beach at the Poly is the perfect viewing spot!

Specialty Food

One of the best things about spending the holidays at Walt Disney World is they usually offer specialty food items for the occasion! We found this patriotic Strawberry Shortcake at Sunshine Seasons.

It’s topped with whipped cream, blueberries, patriotic sprinkles, and a white chocolate Mickey piece. There was nothing particularly spectacular about this dessert, but I still enjoyed it because the spongecake was light and the fruit was refreshing.

Other specialty food items included a Red, White, and Blue Cupcake at Fountain View and a BBQ Rib Plate at Liberty Inn.

Patriotic Characters

We love it when Disney offers special character meet-and-greets! Each year on the Fourth of July, guests can meet Mickey & Friends dressed in their patriotic best. Just look at how cute their outfits are!!

Make sure to get there early! The line was long throughout most of the day so getting there early would drastically reduce your wait time.

Voices of Liberty

If you’ve never seen the Voices of Liberty perform before, run—don’t walk—to your local Epcot Center! Seriously, these singers are immensely talented so this show is definitely a must-see. Each year on the Fourth of July, guests can enjoy the musical talents of the Voices of Liberty at select times at the America Gardens Theater.

Don’t worry if you missed them this week! The Voices of Liberty perform daily in the American Adventure rotunda so you can still catch them on your next visit.

Heartbeat of Freedom – Fourth of July Finale

Magic Kingdom isn’t the only park with special holiday fireworks! Instead of an entirely separate fireworks display like Magic Kingdom, the holiday fireworks at Epcot are tacked on to the end of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. This is often referred to by seasoned visitors as a “holiday tag.”

With IllumiNations ending its run in September, this was the final year to see IllumiNations with the Heartbeat of Freedom holiday tag. There’s no word if Heartbeat of Freedom will return next year with the new Epcot Forever show that’s replacing IllumiNations.

This was actually my first time ever seeing Heartbeat of Freedom, and I really hope it’s not my last! It was by far the most intense fireworks finale I’ve ever seen. It left me speechless!

We hope you all had a Happy Fourth of July!!
