During the Oscars, Disney revealed a brand new trailer for the upcoming live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid.’
Get ready to go back under the sea! Fans of The Little Mermaid have been eagerly awaiting more details and footage from the upcoming live-action remake of the beloved tale, which is set to debut on May 26, 2023. While we have previously seen a short teaser released for the movie, Disney shared a full trailer for the film during the broadcast of The Oscars on ABC.
The film hosts a star-studded cast, including Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. Additionally, voice talents will include Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwarfina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. The Little Mermaid is directed by Oscar nominee Rob Marshall, with a screenplay written by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee. The soundtrack for the movie will feature songs from the beloved 1989 animated film, along with new music just for the live-action film. The songs will feature music from Disney Legends Alan Menken and Howard Ashman and new lyrics from Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The new trailer gives us our best look yet at new footage from the film, including a preview of McCarthy as Ursula (that witch cackle!) and a longer listen to Bailey’s Part of Your World. We can’t wait to see the cast’s takes on these iconic roles and listen to the rest of the performances from the incredible musical soundtrack.
Fans can catch The Little Mermaid when it hits theaters on May 26, 2023. The soundtrack is also currently available for pre-order on all major streaming platforms, with an expected release of May 19, 2023.
