Some Disney World rides completely transform after dark. If you’re spending a full day in the parks, these are the attractions worth experiencing twice.

When you’re planning a day at Disney World, you’re probably thinking about when you’ll ride certain attractions. Maybe you’re planning to rope drop one of the headliners first thing in the morning, or you’ve booked a Lightning Lane for later in the day.

But there are a few rides where when you experience them can completely change the attraction.

Disney World after dark is a different place. Mountains disappear into the night, colorful lands light up, and coasters that feel relatively tame in the afternoon suddenly seem a whole lot faster when you can’t see the track ahead.

If you have enough time in your park day, these are the Disney World rides I’d argue are actually worth riding twice — once during the day and again after the sun goes down.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has always been one of my favorite Disney World rides to experience after dark — and that’s especially true now that the attraction has reopened following its massive refurbishment.

During the daytime, you can appreciate all of the details throughout the attraction, including the newly refreshed mountain and the new magic Disney added during its refurbishment. One of the biggest additions is Rainbow Caverns, a colorful new scene filled with glowing natural formations.

But nighttime is still my favorite time to ride.

Once darkness falls, the track ahead practically disappears, making every turn and drop feel faster. The illuminated mountain looks spectacular against the night sky, and there’s always the possibility you’ll catch a glimpse of fireworks over Cinderella Castle as your train races around the track.

If you haven’t ridden Big Thunder since its refurbishment, I’d argue it’s now even more deserving of two rides in one day.

Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest is another coaster where daylight gives you something nighttime simply can’t: the views.

As your train climbs the Forbidden Mountain, you’ll get a brief look out across Disney’s Animal Kingdom before reaching the broken track and suddenly heading backward into darkness. On a clear day, you can see surprisingly far across Walt Disney World from the top.

If Animal Kingdom stays open late enough during your visit, though, try to squeeze in another ride around sunset or after dark. The mountain takes on an entirely different atmosphere, and not being able to see the track ahead makes an already intense coaster feel even faster.

And there’s another reason to keep Expedition Everest on your radar: Disney announced at D23 2026 that it plans to bring the attraction’s massive Yeti Audio-Animatronic “back to life.” Disney hasn’t yet shared exactly when we’ll see the restored effect, but once it debuts, you’ll have one more reason to revisit this Animal Kingdom classic.

TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom

One of the ultimate rides worth a ride during the day and night is TRON Lightcycle / Run. A ride during the day is great, where you can clearly see the twisting path ahead and the park below as you race through the Grid.

But, unlike the rest of the rides on this list, I’d venture to say a nighttime ride on this coaster is even better. Once the sun sets, TRON becomes a visual masterpiece. The canopy glows with blue and orange light patterns that match the ride’s pounding soundtrack. Your glowing bike blends seamlessly into a stream of neon energy as you zip beneath the illuminated roof and dive back into the digital world. It’s easily one of the most stunning nighttime visuals in all of Walt Disney World.

Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of Disney’s most authentic and unpredictable attractions. During the day, you’ll see the savanna at its most active — giraffes stretching for leaves, elephants wading in the water, and rhinos roaming in the sun. The bright light makes every landscape pop with color, and the guides often share fun stories about the animals’ habits and personalities.

However, as evening sets in, the savanna transforms. Disney uses carefully designed lighting to create a perpetual sunset glow, and many animals become even more animated. While a lot of animals choose to spend their time in the sun basking and taking a nap, at dusk, many animals become even more active, giving you a truly unique ride.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

In the bright Florida sun, the Tower of Terror stands tall and imposing, its crumbling facade looming over Sunset Boulevard. Inside, the eerie lobby and cobweb-covered library feel like a slice of classic Hollywood gone wrong. During the day, you can spot sweeping views of the park from the top floor right before your elevator plunges into darkness.

At night, everything about Tower of Terror feels heightened. The ride’s exterior glows ominously in purple and gold lighting, setting the mood before you even step inside. Once those doors open at the top, you’ll see the park lit up below — twinkling lights, glowing signs, and even Fantasmic! in the distance if your timing’s right. Then, in an instant, it’s gone — as you free-fall into pitch-black nothingness.

Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

By day, Slinky Dog Dash is a cheerful, family-friendly coaster full of color and whimsy. You’ll spot Toy Story Land’s oversized blocks, bright primary hues, and adorable details like Rex and Jessie cheering you on. It’s the perfect ride to capture photos and enjoy the land’s playful atmosphere.

After dark, Toy Story Land glows with string lights and oversized Christmas bulbs, turning the backyard into a twinkling wonderland. As you zip through the track, the lights blur into streaks of color, and the glowing coils of Slinky Dog reflect every hue. The ride feels faster, smoother, and even more joyful beneath the lights.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom

During the day, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is bursting with life. You can spot the impressive animatronics and colorful details throughout the bayou scenes, and the joyful soundtrack sets the tone for your adventure with Tiana and her friends.

After dark, the attraction takes on an entirely different mood. The bayou glows under the moonlight, fireflies flicker along the path, and the lighting adds depth to every curve of the mountain. The drop feels more dramatic when the world below is cloaked in shadows, and the final scene — filled with music and color — shines brighter against the dark sky.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom

The PeopleMover is a gentle, relaxing way to enjoy Tomorrowland from above. During the day, you can clearly see the architectural details of the land — the moving walkways, Space Mountain’s shining white dome, and the bustling park below. It’s a peaceful, breezy escape from the crowds.

At night, the PeopleMover becomes something else entirely — a glowing glide through the future. The neon blues and purples of Tomorrowland reflect off the track, offering incredible views of TRON Lightcycle / Run and Space Mountain at night, along with Cinderella Castle glowing in the distance. Try to time it right to take a ride along this omnimover at the same time as the fireworks for a great view.
