Considering the Disney Dining Plans for 2024? We’re sharing the big reasons to consider the Disney Dining Plan for your trip.
If you’ve visited our blog recently, you’ll know that there is so much to know about the Disney Dining Plan. Whether it’s which restaurants are accepting the plan, a guide to the plan, or answering your biggest questions, there is a lot to know. But, you might be wondering why we suggest purchasing one of the returning Disney Dining Plans in 2024. We are providing 4 reasons that we suggest the plan to aid in making your next trip to Walt Disney World perfect.
Why You Should Buy the Disney Dining Plan 2024
Budgeting for Your Trip
A trip to Walt Disney World is often filled with a lot of expenses. From hotel room charges to park tickets and souvenirs, you are definitely leaving Disney World with quite the credit card charge. But, what if you could budget your food to make sure that you weren’t overspending. That’s the perk of the Disney Dining Plan.
Since the DDP allows you to prepay for the plan and includes a certain amount of credits per person, per day, you are able to keep track of what’s being used and spent within the plan ahead of time. That way, don’t have to overspend or keep charging every meal as you go.
Purchasing one of the Disney Dining Plans in 2024 is great for everyone, but especially for two types of guests who are budgeting. First, it’s great for the guests who are under a certain budget. Each dining plan is a different cost per day, the Quick Service Plan costing $57.01 per adult, the DDP costing $94.28 per adult. If you are looking to spend less, you can choose a plan that still offers food and perks but for less money.
The other guest that this is great for is for people looking to prepay for their food ahead of time. Since you add this onto your vacation, you are not charged for it as you go. You will pay the DDP cost with your vacation package. Therefore, as you eat and drink your way around Disney, you’ll only be asked to pay gratuities on the cost of whatever you purchase.
What’s Included in the Disney Dining Plan
Another reason that we recommend that you purchase a Disney Dining Plan on your next trip is because of what’s included for the price. While you might think that the DDP only includes meals in table service or quick-service restaurants, that isn’t 100% true.
In addition to having meals included, a resort refillable mug is also included in the price of both plans. What does this mean? Well, resort refillable mugs are now $21.99 each. You can use your mug at any self-service beverage station at any resort hotel Quick-Service location.. You are able to fill your mug with unlimited soda and coffee. This makes a big difference if you drink those beverages with breakfast or dinner and want to constantly refill them.
Also included in the price of both plans is a snack or nonalcoholic drink. While we don’t necessarily suggest using your snack credit for a nonalcoholic drink, we think using it for an actual snack is great! Snacks are considered a single serving of a specific item. You can redeem the snack credit for things like a frozen ice cream novelty, 2 scoops of ice cream, a single-serving box of popcorn, a cup of soup, or a single-serve bag of snacks. Just think about the amount of times you probably use your MagicBand+ to purchase one of these items… and it’s all included.
Flexibility in Using a Disney Dining Plan
A lot of people think that once they purchase one of the Disney Dining Plans, they are locked into using the amount of table service or quick-service meals on a specific day. But it’s actually quite the opposite. While the Disney Dining Plan is a prepaid option, you aren’t required to use your credits at a specific time on a specific day.
Once you have the allotted credits, which are determined by the amount of people in your party and the amount of nights of your stay, you can actually use them however you’d like. While it would be quite complex to use all of your credits in one day, if that’s what you’d like to do, you can totally do it! If you only wanted to go to all character and two-credit experiences and finish up your credits a few days before you come home, that’s ok too!
Both plans give guests the flexibility of making reservations and using credits in the way that best suits their family’s needs.
Offers Unique Options for Your Vacation
One of our favorite reasons to purchase the Disney Dining Plan is because of all of the great, unique options you can try, all prepaid. That’s right! While we did cover some restaurants that might not accept the DDP in a previous post, there are still over 200 different locations around the Walt Disney World Resort that are up for grabs.
You can try out character dining locations such as Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT and Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. These are all extremely unique experiences that are included in the DDP.
And, while some of them might not make the most financial sense to make the most of your plan, there are so many good ones that will allow you to maximize your money. We suggest you visit these posts to discover where you should and should not dine:
