Storyliving by Disney has announced plans for its second community, Asteria. The new residential community will be located in North Carolina.
In 2022, Disney announced a new venture: Storyliving by Disney. The concept brings the magic of Disney straight to your home, with residential communities designed with help from Disney Imagineers, with the enchantment of Disney front of mind. The first of these communities is Cotino, which is currently being built in California’s Coachella Valley. And in 2023, Storyliving by Disney announced plans for its second residential community.
Asteria, a Storyliving by Disney Community
Asteria, a residential community, will be built near Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill in North Carolina. Influenced by North Carolina’s Research Triangle of renowned universities, the community is envisioned as “a campus of discovery– where future residents can learn and grow, bringing a touch of Disney magic into their everyday lives in a way that only Storyliving by Disney communities can.”

The community will consist of 1,500 acres, located in Chatham County just outside the state capital of Raleigh. Initial planning is currently underway with Walt Disney Imagineering alongside DMB Development. According to Disney Parks Blog, the community will feature neighborhood parks, walking, and biking trails with “the fauna and flora of the outdoors.” The name Asteria pays homage to the native North Carolina aster flower, named for the goddess Asteria.
Second Star Club

In April 2026, Disney shared a first look at the Second Star Club coming to Asteria. Designed as the social heart of the community, the club will feature spaces for gathering, creativity, and wellness. This will include things like morning yoga, learning from a Disney expert, tennis, as well as a signature restaurant
First Look at the Asteria Entryway
In August 2026, Storyliving by Disney shared a first look at the future entrance to the Asteria community. Designed with creative guidance from Walt Disney Imagineering, the arrival experience draws inspiration from North Carolina’s Piedmont region and is intended to create a memorable first impression for residents and visitors alike.
The entryway will incorporate natural materials sourced directly from the property, including metavolcanic rock, quartz, and rhyolite. These stones will be arranged using the region’s traditional dry-stack masonry techniques, helping the entrance blend naturally with the surrounding landscape.

One of the most distinctive design elements will be a moon gate—an arched gateway that frames the scenery beyond and serves as a symbolic welcome into the community. Disney says the feature is designed to create a sense of discovery from the moment guests arrive, setting the tone for the thoughtful architecture, landscaping, and gathering spaces planned throughout Asteria.
While the entrance is one of the first major design elements to be revealed, Disney says it represents the beginning of the community’s broader vision, where nature, storytelling, and everyday living come together in a uniquely Disney-inspired neighborhood.
Asteria Homeowners and Lifestyle
The planned community will offer homeowners a variety of spaces such as a restaurant, sports courts, swimming pools, a wellness and recreation center, and a community garden. There will also be Disney-themed programming to enjoy, such as Disney-themed games and activities, and classes with Disney artists. Plans for the community include more than 4,000 residential unities, a combination of single-family and multi-family homes, and specific home sites for 55+ adults.
Disney has not yet announced when home sales will begin. As development continues, additional details about pricing, timelines, and the first phase of homes are expected to be released in the future.
