Staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge After Re-Opening

by | Sep 21, 2020 | Walt Disney World Resorts, WDW Blog

Along with the reopening of Walt Disney World came the reopening of several Disney resorts. I was so happy that Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was on the list because it’s my favorite resort

My family and I have had a chance to stay at the resort twice now and each time we have felt safe and happy to be “home.”

Here are the changes that have been made to ensure guest and Cast Member safety at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort.

Lobby at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

As soon as we entered through the lobby doors, we were greeted by hand sanitizer and signs stating face-covering requirements and online check-in procedure

The lobby definitely felt less busy and there were floor markings as well as plexiglass on the check-in counters to provide distance between everyone.

My favorite spot to relax in the lobby is by the big fireplace and there I noticed several rocking chairs removed and existing ones separated from one another.

Social distancing is also enforced in the elevators with signs indicating only “one party or four individuals per elevator.” You can also find wipes and hand sanitizer in front of the elevators.

Quick Service and Shops

Wilderness Lodge has one main shop called the Mercantile. Similar to other stores on Disney property, the shop has indicated entrance/exit doors, hand sanitizers, markings on the floor, and plexiglass at registers.

Another reason we enjoy staying at the Wilderness Lodge is the variety of food options.

Currently open are two Table-Service restaurants, Whispering Canyon Café and Geyser Point, and one Quick-Service, The Roaring Fork.

We had a chance to eat at all three locations and we were happy with the safety precautions in place.

Whispering Canyon Café requires a reservation and temperature check before entering. Check out this blog for further safety measures taken at Disney dining.

As for the Quick-Service, mobile orders are placed via the My Disney Experience app and all meals were prepared to go. The self-service stations for drinks are currently attended by a Cast Member who will fill your drinks instead.

Rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

One of the main reasons I love Disney Resorts is for their cleanliness and I was impressed with the extra steps taken in the rooms.

Measures such as sanitized remote control, sealed bag of extra blankets and pillows, and an enhanced cleaning sign provided me with much-needed reassurance.

Overall, we have really enjoyed our stays back at the Disney Resorts since the reopening! Service remains top-notch and the number of guests is noticeably less which helps to create quiet, relaxing, and safe stays.
