Get ready to celebrate the holidays at Animal Kingdom! This holiday season, Walt Disney World is bringing the cheer and festivities to a magical level, with new entertainment and decor unique to each land in the park.
During the day at Discovery Island, you can see life-size puppets in the shape of winter animals. Reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins and more will be in the streets of Discovery Island alongside musicians performing with festive cheer.
In addition, the artists in the village have created a winter wonderland, complete with colorful, animal-inspired luminaries across the rooflines and wireframe lanterns in the shape of beautiful birds. At night, these lanterns bathe the village in a warm light, spreading a festive glow.
The Tree of Life is not left out of the holidays at Animal Kingdom – it is at the center of it all, and awakens with “a series of wintry tales, complemented by a familiar and heartwarming holiday-inspired musical score,” according to the Disney Parks Blog. When it is not dancing to the music of the season, the Tree of Life is still be a focal point, shimmering and sparkling all through the night.
In Dinoland, U.S.A., Donald and his friends continue celebrating Donald’s Dino-Bash! with a little extra holiday cheer, decking the halls with colorful Donald and friends inspired decor. At night, Chip ‘n Dale are ready to party at the Truck-O-Saurus and they want you to join in on the Holiday Hoopla Dance Party and interactive fun and games!
Travel over to Asia and celebrate Diwali, India’s holiday festival of lights, with the citizens of Anandapur’s theatre district. The square between Anandapur Theater and the waterfront stage is illuminated with lanterns, glowing flowers, and more.
Onto Harambe in Africa, where the village blends western traditions with the culture, colors, and textiles of Africa. Familiar musical groups to the area are adding holiday cheer to their repertoire, complete with musical and costume enhancements. Don’t forget to stop by Tusker House for a meal with Mickey and his pals, who are ready to continue the magical holiday celebrations!
Finally, for our last stop in our journey through the holidays at Animal Kingdom celebration, we’re going beyond Earth’s atmosphere to Pandora – The World of Avatar! According to the Disney Parks Blog, “the ex-pats living and working on the moon of Pandora bring a little Christmastime fun to their alien home, with a display at Pongu Pongu of kitschy holiday décor, combining vintage pieces from Earth with items handcrafted from materials indigenous to Pandora.”
