Official Communication From Disney
There have been rumors flying around recently about the closure, but here at WDW Magazine, we asked Disney Parks directly.
Our source with Creative Contact and Digital Integration told us regarding the future of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, “Our mobile devices continue to play a vital role in the Disney theme park experience, and we are constantly innovating with new, on-the-go digital experiences, such as Magic Mobile, Play Disney Parks app and additional enhancements to My Disney Experience.”
They continued, “With the changes in how our Guests use mobile technology in mind and decreased demand for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, we will be retiring this interactive experience on Jan. 24. Guests will have until then to cast their final spells and help Merlin to defeat the notorious Disney villains.”
The official communication from Disney also expressed gratitude to fans by stating, “We thank our Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom fans for their dedication and hope they’ll remember this fun experience. And of course, we thank our Cast for helping recruit sorcerers and sending them on their adventures.”
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom first started in 2012 and is included in the price of admission.
All guests have to do is go to the Firehouse on Main Street, U.S.A. to pick up their Sorcerer Key card, Merlin’s mystical map, and spell cards. Then, they have to locate 20 Magic Portals throughout the park to use cards to battle both Hades and his henchmen.
It definitely makes for a unique way to experience the park. We’ll be sure to let you know if we learn more regarding Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.
