Shanghai Disney Resort Announces New Expansion

The Walt Disney Company has announced news for a Shanghai Disney Resort expansion, including a new hotel and Disneytown updates.

Shanghai Disney Resort is growing again — and in a big way. As the park celebrates its 100 millionth guest, it’s looking toward a new era, complete with a brand-new themed hotel and an expanded Disneytown full of fresh shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences.

A New Hotel at Shanghai Disney Resort

The new hotel will be located right by the entrance to Shanghai Disneyland, giving guests the chance to be completely immersed in the Disney experience. The hotel will come complete with unique accommodations and exclusive access to areas.

The new property will join the existing Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, the Toy Story Hotel, and the Art Nouveau-inspired lakeside hotel currently under construction on Wishing Star Lake.

Disneytown Gets a Glow-Up

The expansion isn’t stopping at the resort’s hotels. Disneytown — Shanghai Disney Resort’s answer to Disney Springs — will soon see an exciting extension of its vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. With new restaurants to discover, boutiques to explore, and entertainment to enjoy, guests will have even more reasons to linger long after the park gates close.

Expansions at Shanghai Disney Resort

The new hotel joins previous and future expansion projects for Shanghai Disney Resort. These have included Toy Story Land, Ignite the Dream nighttime spectacular, and the Zootopia-themed land (which will soon debut nods to the upcoming Zootopia 2!). There’s also the upcoming Spider-Man themed land, and the expanded Soaring Over the Horizon.
