Don’t miss Season of the Force, a Star Wars celebration at Disneyland Park filled with exciting galactic additions, from new food and merchandise to special additions to beloved attractions.

Star Wars fans, you’re going to want to plan a visit to Disneyland Resort this spring! Season of the Force has returned to Disneyland Park in 2024 after a long hiatus, and we can’t wait to celebrate all things Star Wars once again.

We’re sharing everything you need to know about Season of the Force at Disneyland, including what’s new for 2024 and what you can expect if you’re planning a visit during this special Star Wars event.

What is Season of the Force?

Season of the Force is a themed event celebrating all things Star Wars. It’s an event that’s been around since 2015, though it’s been on hiatus for several years  –– the last event wrapped in June 2017 –– before its 2024 return. Season of the Force first took place at Disneyland Park, but it has also taken place at Disneyland Paris in the past.

During Season of the Force, Star Wars takes over Disneyland, and there’s many exciting themed offerings. New food and merchandise themed around Star Wars characters, stories, and destinations are introduced, and special entertainment offerings can appear. The most exciting happenings, though, are attraction overlays and updates.

Season of the Force is only around for a limited time, however. In 2024, you can experience Season of the Force at Disneyland Park from April 5 to June 2.

What to Expect During Season of the Force at Disneyland

Wondering what’s in store for Season of the Force? Well, there’s a lot to explore and experience –– and you won’t want to miss any of the limited-time offerings that are only available during this special celebration. Here’s a look at what you can expect when you visit during Season of the Force.

Attraction Overlays and Updates

Who doesn’t love seeing a touch of their favorite Star Wars stories added to some of Disneyland’s beloved attractions? Well, during Season of the Force, you won’t want to skip two of Tomorrowland’s staple attractions, both of which are getting some extra-special tweaks just for the event (or beyond!).

Season of the Force, new scenes added to Star Tours with The Mandalorian and Grogu

Starting April 5, 2024, the attraction Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will introduce a new destination and characters from recent Disney+ series. During their flight, guests may encounter urgent transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, or Din Djarin and Grogu. Photo courtesy of Disney

Hyperspace Mountain has returned for Season of the Force in 2024, transforming Disneyland’s Space Mountain with an exclusive overlay. First introduced back in 2015 to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Hyperspace Mountain is a limited-time attraction overlay that only appears every now and then. During the overlay, Space Mountain’s ride vehicles become “reconnaissance vehicles,” Admiral Ackbar delivers a video briefing, and riders head out on a mission to Jakku, jumping into hyperspace and going to battle with X-wings and TIE fighters.

Star Tours has also been upgraded, with new scenes added into the mix. Guests can experience fresh storylines, with nods to the beloved Disney+ series Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, and Andor popping up. You may even spot everyone’s favorite mischief-maker, Grogu, in some of these new scenes! With these additions, there will be a whopping 250 different storyline variations to experience –– meaning you’re going to want to ride Star Tours more than once! This will be a change that will last beyond just Season of the Force.

Limited-Time Entertainment Offerings

Lastly, you can expect Star Wars and its stories to come to life in numerous ways throughout Disneyland Park during Season of the Force. Entertainment will be key to this, and for the 2024 event, there will be some exciting happenings taking place right in Galaxy’s Edge.

One of the newest additions that will debut this year is Fire of the Rising Moons, a special fireworks viewing experience that will continue on select nights in Galaxy’s Edge even after Season of the Force has ended. Anyone who loves spending time inside Galaxy’s Edge knows that you can check out an incredible view of Disneyland’s fireworks right near the Millennium Falcon –– but it’s usually a quiet experience. On select nights, the fireworks will come alive in a whole new way with the addition of galactic music sweeping through the land’s towering spires. Fire of the Rising Moons will bring villagers and visitors together in Batuu to honor heroes and legends of the galaxy, complete with tales of their escapades and some of the most iconic music from Star Wars by John Williams.

Plus, you’ll be able to experience Fire of the Rising Moons from multiple spots within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! You can grab a place to view the spectacular at the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform, and the speeder garage. As the show takes place, your MagicBand+ will light up and offer ambient vibrations to make it a wholly immersive experience.

And don’t forget, during the day you can catch some of your favorite Star Wars characters within Galaxy’s Edge. You may encounter Storm Troopers, Kylo Ren, Din Djarin (and his precious cargo, Grogu), Chewbacca, Rey, and others as you spend time within Batuu and its grounds. Disney has also revealed two new additions, with the chance to meet Sabine Wren in the park! BD-X droids are also roaming around Batuu, with chances for a unique interaction.

Exclusive Star Wars Themed Food and Merchandise

Throughout Disneyland Park, Season of the Force will bring opportunities to taste delicious limited-time food and drinks themed after Star Wars –– so if you’ve always wanted to try some out-of-this-world dishes, this is your chance!

While you can expect there to be new food and drinks throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the offerings are also typically expanded throughout Disneyland Park and even resort-wide for Season of the Force. In the past years, specialty offerings have been available in Tomorrowland, Downtown Disney, and even Disneyland Resort hotels. We’re sharing the full menu of everything that’s available during the 2024 Season of the Force in our new Star Wars food guide just for the event! This includes new food novelties –– like sippers, tumblers, and popcorn buckets, which will also be available.

Speaking of merchandise, you can expect special items themed after both Season of the Force and Star Wars to appear in shops throughout Disneyland Resort. The event will likely bring exciting options that range from commemorative t-shirts to ear hats and headbands to pins, and we know we can’t wait to check out all of the exclusive event merchandise.

Special PhotoPass Magic Shots

A new addition to Season of the Force for 2024 is a cool holopuck Magic Shot that’s available through Disney’s PhotoPass Service. Aspiring bounty hunters looking for Din Djarin, Grogu, and other Star Wars characters can take advantage of this Magic Shot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Additionally, there will be returning PhotoPass Magic Shots and themed Disney PhotoPass Lenses, which are included with the purchase of Disney Genie+ service. These opportunities are the perfect way to commemorate your visit during this special event.

Are Season of the Force and Star Wars Nite the Same Event?

If you’re wondering what the difference is between Season of the Force and Star Wars Nite, it’s simple: The two are totally separate events and they require different types of tickets

Season of the Force is a limited-time celebration that takes place both day and night at Disneyland, and it’s open to all guests. The Season of the Force offerings, like attraction overlays and themed food and merchandise, can be experienced by anyone who’s visiting Disneyland with a regular theme park ticket.

Star Wars Nite –– or as it’s officially known, Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite –– is a specially ticketed event that is separate from Season of the Force. This event takes place on select nights in April and May, and it is only open to guests who’ve purchased a Disneyland After Dark event ticket.

Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite events take place after Disneyland Park closes for the evening, though they do offer ticket holders entry into the theme park up to three hours before the event begins.

Will Season of the Force Celebrate May the 4th?

Because Season of the Force runs from April 5 to June 2, 2024, the celebration will overlap with the biggest Star Wars day of the year: May 4. If you’re hoping to get in the Star Wars spirit and celebrate May 4 at Disneyland, you can easily do so since Season of the Force will be in full swing!

While it’s uncertain that Disneyland will offer any extra-special entertainment, attractions, or events on May 4 this year, we’ll keep you updated if any details are revealed.

Thanks to Disney for hosting us for the opening day of Season of the Force.
