Baymax, Hiro, and all of your favorite elements of ‘Big Hero 6’ are coming to life in the new San Fransokyo Square at California Adventure.
Get ready to step into the city of San Fransokyo! Today, this fictional city from the Academy Award-winning film Big Hero 6 is welcoming its very first visitors inside Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort. Filled with sights, sounds, and tastes inspired by the vibrant city that Hiro Hamada and Baymax call home, San Fransokyo Square is sure to become a must-see stop inside the park.
So, what will you have the chance to experience when you visit San Fransokyo Square? There are details that draw directly from Big Hero 6 sprinkled throughout the area, from a character meet and greet opportunity with Hiro and Baymax, rethemed restaurants and shops filled with merchandise (and that classic sourdough bread!) and Japanese-inspired dishes, and a diverse neighborhood that blends together all of the different cultures you’d naturally find in both San Francisco and Tokyo, the two cities that inspired this square.

As Michael Dobrzycki, Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Anaheim, explains, “San Fransokyo Square is a seaside district outside of the urban center in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film Big Hero 6. Here, guests will discover nods to the Big Hero 6 team’s many adventures, such as Hiro’s Megabot and Baymax’s battle glove.”
Make sure to head towards the iconic 54-foot-tall San Fransokyo Gate Bridge when you’re inside California Adventure – it’s the landmark of the square, and it’ll welcome you right into the bustling marketplace that is this colorful new land! While much of this area is all-new, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for old favorites, too.
