The inaugural runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is coming next April, and we have the details about each of the races.
Fans of running and Disney are probably familiar with the big race weekends at WDW Resort. But you’ve probably never heard of the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend, and for good reason: 2022 will be the very first year for this new race weekend.
Past runDisney participants will notice some familiar turns on the courses, as they each take inspiration from runDisney courses from the past.
The inaugural runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will feature three individual races and one challenge. Because it wouldn’t be a runDisney event without a challenge now, would it?
Let’s take a look at each of the events, which also includes a pre-race yoga session.
Sunrise Yoga (March 31, 2022)
Start your weekend off on a relaxing note with a yoga session while you watch the sun rise. You’ll stretch and flow next to Cinderella Castle while you loosen your muscles for the weekend ahead.
Expedition Everest 5K (April 1, 2022)
What’s better than a regular 5K? How about a nighttime 5K that’s combined with a scavenger hunt? That’s exactly what the Expedition Everest 5K is.
Race for the Taste 10K (April 2, 2022)
Do you like running and food? Then the Race for the Taste 10K might be your ideal race. The race is designed to celebrate Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT, which also happens to be the newest attraction at WDW Resort.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10 Miler (April 3, 2022)
The Tower of Terror 10 Miler is only really terrifying if you don’t like getting up early. The 5 AM start time is made more palatable by character sightings along the way and the medal awaiting you at the finish line.
Springtime Surprise Challenge
If you really want to earn bragging rights among your friends, sign up for the Springtime Surprise Challenge. You’ll run all three races (for a total of 19.3 miles) and get all three medals, plus an extra special Challenge medal.
Registration for all runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend events starts on Dec. 9, 2021, at rundisney.com. Can’t make it in person? Don’t worry—there will be virtual sign-ups available as well!
