When is the runDisney Princess Half Marathon?

Each year, the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is held in late February. In 2024, the event takes place from February 22 to 26.

You can expect this annual runDisney race event to kick off on a Thursday and wrap up on a Monday, with the half marathon itself (the keystone event!) to take place on Sunday.

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Races and Race Themes

While the annual runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend does change slightly from year to year, you can always expect the events to be themed around the Disney princesses you know and love. So, this means you’ll be able to participate in races featuring characters like Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.

For the 2024 event, here’s a look at the races and themes:

  • Disney Princess 5K, which is themed around Ariel and The Little Mermaid
  • Disney Princess 10K, which is themed around Rapunzel and Tangled
  • Disney Princess Half Marathon, which is themed around Tiana and The Princess and the Frog
  • Disney Fairytale Challenge, which is themed around Anna and Elsa from Frozen

While you can choose to sign up for an individual race, the Disney Fairytale Challenge is a great option for runners who want to accomplish even more! This challenge awards a special medal to those who complete both the Disney Princess 10K and Disney Princess Half Marathon over the course of the weekend.

runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Kids’ Races

Unfortunately, there are no kids’ races offered during the 2024 Disney Princess Half Marathon.

runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Virtual Races

Can’t make it to Walt Disney World to participate in the Princess Half Marathon in person? Good news: runDisney offers virtual races!

You can complete the race of your choosing right at home, running along your favorite local trail or your neighborhood. You’ll be responsible for tracking your own progress, but these virtual races give other runDisney fans the chance to be more flexible in how and where they complete their race. And you’ll get the very same medals as in-person runners!

Other Disney Princess Half Marathon Events

In addition to the races that take place during the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, there are also plenty of other exciting events to enjoy.

For example, after the races wrap up, don’t miss the chance to wind down and practice yoga inside Magic Kingdom Park. Disney Princess Yoga makes for a relaxing close to the weekend, and you’ll get the chance to revel in some soothing poses right near Cinderella Castle.

Additionally, one of the highlights of every runDisney race weekend is the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. Participants do need to attend the expo prior to their race –– this is where you’ll pick up your race bib, participant shirt, and any merchandise you’ve pre-purchased online. But everyone will want to spend time at the expo! Here, you can shop, find exclusive photo opportunities, and more. The expo is open each day of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend.

How to Register for the runDisney Princess Half Marathon

Registering for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is easy, and you can do it online. Visit the runDisney website to find out when registration opens (hint: it’s usually months before the event!), and make sure you sign up ASAP when you’re able to.

Because runDisney events like the Princess Half Marathon are so incredibly popular, they sell out fast. For the best odds of signing up for a race, become a Club runDisney member. The cost of joining one of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend races varies, depending on which race (or races) you choose. The price also varies from year to year. For 2024, prices start at $107.99 for the Disney Princess 5K and go as high as $389.00 for the Disney Fairytale Challenge.

How fast does the Disney Princess Half Marathon sell out?

Is Walt Disney World crowded during the Princess Half Marathon?

Every runDisney race weekend brings an influx of additional guests to Walt Disney World Resort, so you can definitely expect an increase in crowds. However, this is not the most popular race weekend of the year; you can expect crowds to be a bit lighter than they are during the Walt Disney World Marathon and Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekends.

Additionally, because many of the guests who come to Disney World during the weekend are there to race, you may not see a huge spike or increase in attraction wait times at the theme parks. It’s a good idea to expect heightened crowds, but nothing too crazy.
