by | May 20, 2026 | Disney's Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World

Disney World’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has undergone a reimagining and is now Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets – and we’re sharing all of the details below.

Are you ready to hit the highway with a new band in town? Big changes are coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World – and Aerosmith is on its way out. Instead, The Muppets will be taking over.

Below, we’re sharing everything we know so far about the upcoming reimaging of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets.

The Short Version: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will reopen as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets on May 26, 2026.

When Will Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Open?

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will officially open for guests on May 26, 2026! When it does, it will feature a brand new soundtrack, celebrity cameos, and more Muppets fun.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: An Overview

In November 2024, Disney announced some big news for both Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Muppet*Vision 3D: Both attractions would be closing. But for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, it won’t be a permanent closure. Instead, the classic coaster will undergo a retheming that’ll send Aerosmith packing and bring The Muppets in.

For one night only, The Electric Mayhem is headlining a concert! Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips are ready to rock – but there’s one problem. The band is nowhere to be found! Your VIP tour starts inside G-Force Records, now under the ownership of Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse. The area is filled with posters highlighting the Electric Mayhem’s career, along with tons of backgrounds for you to strike your own pose!

But the changes will be evident as soon as you approach the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Courtyard, which features a brand-new (and psychedelic) paint job inspired by a classic Muppet car paint job. The piano motif will also feature a golden key as a nod to a certain far-out band member.

As guests enter the recording studio, you’ll encounter the Electric Mayhem cranking out their rockin’ tunes, specifically “Can You Picture That?” Look out for some new audio engineers (penguins, of course) and the first ever Audio-Animatronic of Scooter, who’s doing his best to get the band on the road and across town in time for the show. From there, you’ll board a super-powered vehicle behind Studio C, known as the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object (L.I.M.O.)!

While you’re there, look out for celebrity cameos throughout teh queue and in the merch spot, including:

  • Awkwafina
  • Danny Trejo
  • Darren Criss
  • John Stamos
  • Neil Patrick Harris
  • Travis Barker
  • Yvette Nicole Brown
  • Wayne Brady
  • “Weird Al” Yankovic

A New Set List

Of course, the ride wouldn’t be complete without a new soundtrack! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, music takes center stage.

  • Song 2 – The Electric Mayhem
  • Born To Be Wild – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
  • Love Rollercoaster – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
  • Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
  • Walking on Sunshine – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Easter Eggs

True to Disney Imagineering form, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is filled with hidden details, deep-cut references, and nostalgic callbacks that longtime fans are going to love spotting throughout the experience. From tributes to classic Muppets productions to rescued props from Muppet*Vision 3D, the attraction is packed with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments.

Gallery Case Room

As guests enter G-Force Records, they’ll find an in-progress gallery exhibit curated by none other than Yolanda the Rat. The display includes several major Muppets artifacts, including one of Miss Piggy’s iconic pink-and-green polka dot outfits, complete with a matching hat.

Music fans should also keep an eye out for a recreation of Kermit the Frog’s famous banjo from “Rainbow Connection.” While the original prop now lives safely in the Walt Disney Archives, Imagineers recreated it specifically for the attraction queue.

And because it wouldn’t be a true rock venue without them, original guitars belonging to Floyd Pepper and Janice from Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are also on display.

The Alley

The backstage alley leading to your L.I.M.O. (Lengthy Immediate Motion Object) may be one of the most Easter egg-filled spaces in the entire attraction. Several props have been transported directly from Muppet*Vision 3D, including old shipping crates and the actual theater balcony seats once occupied by the famously grumpy duo Statler and Waldorf.

Nearby, guests can spot references to Gonzo’s newest venture, Gonzo’s Stunt School – Hollywood, complete with “The Great Gonzo” banner and his stunt airplane. There’s even a cannon resembling the one used in Muppet*Vision 3D when the penguins attempted to launch Gonzo directly at the Swedish Chef.

Fans of the former PizzeRizzo will notice pizza boxes scattered nearby, while the famous Mona Lisa painting from Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has also found a new home in the alley.

Additional hidden details include flyers announcing that Bean Bunny has gone missing, laundry hanging overhead featuring Fozzie Bear’s bowtie and Electric Mayhem tour merch, and a sign for “The Squeakeasy” established in 1936 — a subtle tribute to the birth year of Jim Henson.

One of the largest Easter eggs comes in billboard form: a “Pop Off” advertisement referencing the scene in The Muppet Movie where Fozzie hides his Studebaker.

Muppet Labs Parking Garage

Over in the Muppet Labs Automotive Division, the queue continues with more obscure references and returning props. Guests may recognize the tiny Interpol vehicle from Muppets Most Wanted tucked away in the garage.

Also parked nearby is the fan-favorite Muppet Mobile Lab vehicle, previously seen roaming parks like EPCOT, Disney California Adventure Park, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Easter Eggs During the Ride

Even during the high-speed ride itself, the hidden references continue. Guests race past World Wide Studios from The Muppet Movie, alongside a glowing PizzeRizzo sign now relocated onto the Hollywood 101 freeway.

Sharp-eyed riders may also catch a “Waldo Crossing” sign referencing Waldo C. Graphic and the “Spirit of 3D” from Muppet*Vision 3D. And because no Muppets attraction would be complete without a little self-aware humor, there’s even an “Obligatory Easter Egg” sign hidden along the route.

Backstage at the Concert

As the ride comes to an end, fans are greeted by perhaps the most emotional callback of all. The original animatronic figures of Statler and Waldorf from Muppet*Vision 3D appear backstage, still refusing to “rock on” with the rest of the crowd.

Another meaningful tribute carried over from Muppet*Vision 3D is the portrait of Jim Henson depicted as a Muppet himself. Previously displayed in the attraction’s pre-show area, the heartfelt tribute now hangs near the end of the ride as a fitting nod to the creator who started it all.

Outside the ride exit, in the former home of KRNR The Rock Station Food Truck, you’ll now be able to pick up Muppets-themed food at FØØD by Swedish Chef. The spot will return with a refreshed look, along with an updated menu of new snacks and drinks. The spot will open May 26, and you can find the menus below!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Merchandise

Of course, no new ride would be complete without a ton of merchandise. Rock Around the Shop, located at the ride exit, will be home to a variety of merchandise for you to enjoy.

Curious what you can buy? The new collection includes a lineup of apparel, accessories, and souvenirs, with select items debuting at ride opening, and the rest available over the coming months. The collections will include six tees, as well as an RSVLTS shirt with a groovy, colorful Muppets print.

Additionally, you can pick up a Muppets baseball hat or Muppets youth tees. Of course, a woman’s tee featuring Miss Piggy in her glamorous get-up (bedazzled to boot) is a must. Other souvenirs will include keepsakes such as a license plate magnet, postcard, or water bottle.

You can also decorate with a Muppets sticker set, or take home a very special drumsticks souvenir. One of the coolest accessories is the Muppets Loungefly bag, a guitar-shaped bag featuring the most iconic Muppets along the straps.
