The Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening date is December 5th at Walt Disney World!
We’ve known for a while now that the opening for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Hollywood Studios has been set for August 29th… with only the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run running. The opening date for Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World was as uncertain as the ride itself.
While we still don’t have full details on what the ride will include, we’ve pieced together releases from Disney Parks to anticipate a one-of-a-kind experience. Remember life before Flight of Passage? That’s where we’re at now with Rise of the Resistance.
Rise of the Resistance Opening: What to Expect
Early concept art and sneak peeks have promised that we’ll be as blown away as Alderaan (what? too soon?).
Disney Parks offered a ride description in the opening date release:
“When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base.
Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.”
But there’s another reason to celebrate on this date: December 5th is also Walt Disney’s birthday. You can bet that spirits will be high in Batuu and all around the parks, so it’s really just a great day to be at WDW.
This newly-announced date means that we’ll finally be getting a galactic first at WDW: Over at Disneyland, their Rise of the Resistance date has been set for January 17th. Hey guys, it’s our turn.
