Disney has already been hard at work decorating for the holiday season.
Every year at the Grand Floridian, Walt Disney World’s Imagineers work hard to create an enormous gingerbread house that houses a special treat shop for the holidays. 1050 lbs of honey, 140 pints of egg whites, 600 lbs of powdered sugar, 700 lbs of chocolate, 800 lbs of flour, and 35 lbs of spices make up this incredible work of art.
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for hidden appearances from some of your favorite Disney films. (Hint: check out the windows of the house.) Last but certainly not least, grab yourself a gingerbread shingle, cookie lollipop, or chocolate treat (there are gluten-free options as well) from the shop. They not only taste amazing, but they’ll make you feel like you are part of the artistic process.
At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the holidays are also already in full swing. Once again this year, Walt Disney World has erected their Frozen-themed gingerbread display right across from the Fantasia store on the fourth floor of the resort. This one is all about the treats.
Of course, Anna, Elsa and all their friends are here on display (including a special side display of Olaf in his summer fun sandcastle) but the specially made frozen themed desserts are absolutely to die for. You have to try the blue raspberry cake gelato. It might be one of the best desserts on property, and this is from someone who tried pretty much all of them this year. The ‘smores cup is also very tasty, and if you are in a cookie mood, the chocolate peppermint cookie was a personal favorite.
There are Gingerbread Displays at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and the BoardWalk Inn too! This month, WDW Magazine will be broadcasting live from Walt Disney World on Twitter, Instagram, Periscope and Facebook – be sure to follow us so you can join in on the fun.
