How to Rent DVC Points

The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is Disney’s vacation ownership program. Members purchase a contract that gives them a set number of points each year, which they can use to book stays at Disney Vacation Club villas.

But not every DVC owner uses all of their points annually. Instead of letting them go unused, many owners rent their points to other travelers.

This is known as a DVC point rental. By renting points from a member, guests can book Disney Vacation Club villas at a lower cost than standard Disney hotel rates. Many travelers save hundreds of dollars compared with booking the same resort directly through Disney.

Using David’s Vacation Club Rentals

While there are several places where you can rent DVC points, we recommend using David’s Vacation Club Rentals, one of the most trusted services in the DVC rental community.

The process starts with their helpful DVC cost calculator. By entering your travel dates, you can estimate the number of points needed and see approximate pricing for different Disney Vacation Club resorts.

Once you’ve reviewed the pricing, you can submit a reservation request. Guests can choose up to three preferred resorts and travel dates.

A refundable $105 deposit is required to submit the request. If none of your preferred resorts are available, the deposit is refunded. If your reservation is secured, the deposit is applied toward your final cost.

In most cases, you’ll receive a response within 24 hours. Once confirmed, the DVC owner will place the reservation in the lead guest’s name and provide a Disney confirmation number. You can then link the reservation to the My Disney Experience app just like any other Disney resort booking.

Using DVC Points Toward a Cruise

DVC owners can also use their points to help pay for a cruise through David’s DVC Cruise Swap Program. The program is available for sailings with Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and AmaWaterways.

Despite the name, your DVC points are not exchanged directly with the cruise line. Instead, one of David’s Cruise Specialists helps you choose a sailing and calculates how many points would need to be rented to cover its cost. David’s then books the cruise, rents your DVC points, and applies the proceeds from those rentals directly toward the reservation. If your points do not cover the entire fare, you can pay the remaining balance in cash.

The Cruise Swap Program can be used with points from any eligible DVC contract, including resale contracts. There are no blackout dates or additional fees for using the service, and owners can choose from any available stateroom rather than being limited to select room categories. David’s also provides a complimentary onboard credit for most bookings; AmaWaterways reservations receive prepaid gratuities instead.

Cruises booked through the program are treated like standard reservations and remain subject to the individual cruise line’s change and cancellation policies. If you need to cancel, you’ll receive any refund the cruise line provides to David’s, excluding complimentary onboard credits or prepaid gratuities.

For DVC members who would rather cruise than book another villa stay, the program offers a flexible way to turn unused points into a vacation without navigating the rental process themselves.
