Rafiki’s Planet Watch closed for refurbishment last fall and many fans have been wondering what that means for the future of this popular Animal Kingdom attraction.

Last fall, Disney scared many Animal Kingdom fans when they announced that Rafiki’s Planet Watch would be closing. Shortly after the terrifying news broke, Disney reassured us that the attraction would only be closing temporarily. Phew!

While not many announcements have been made about the refurbishment, Disney Parks Blog recently revealed that Rafiki’s Planet Watch, the Affection Section, and the Wildlife Express will be reopening this summer.

Guests can expect a few enhancements to their favorite Planet Watch activities as well as some new experiences celebrating Disney’s rich heritage of wildlife animation. With Rafiki as the attraction’s host, it’s no surprise that these new experiences will celebrate all things “The Lion King!”

An exact opening date has yet to be announced, but the attraction is expected to fully reopen this summer.
