Quack-tastic Donald Duck Disneybounds

by | Jun 9, 2020 | WDW Blog

Donald Duck is an adorable, yet angry little duck. He’s part of the Fab 5, and for good reason! Today, I am going to show you some inspirations for Donald Duck Disneybounds!

He’s been with the gang since June 9, 1934 (that’s today!), which makes him an original pal of Mickey Mouse. I must say… for an 86-year-old, he’s got a lot of fight in him!

I feel a little bit bad for Donald. He’s always second to Mickey Mouse… which is why he signs his autograph with a “#1”, to remind us who he thinks is really top dog (or duck) at Disney!

Leslie Kay refers to Donald as a “fashion guru” in her book Disneybound: Dress Disney and Make it Fashion.

I never thought of him as very tuned in on fashion, I always thought that was more Daisy’s expertise!

Leslie Kay pointed out that he pulls off the nautical look really well—something I didn’t think about until I read the book!

Donald Duck’s Color Palette

The members of the Fab 5 have very simple color palettes, and Donald’s is no exception.

The colors your need for Donald:

  • Blue
  • Red
  • Yellow
  • White

Leslie mentioned a really useful tip for aspiring Disneybounders! She illustrates how practical a pair of yellow shoes are for Disneybounders.

I use these yellow shoes for Mickey and Minnie Disneybounds, but the possibilities are endless!

There are plenty of yellow characters that you could use a fun pair of yellow shoes for. Belle, Flounder, Pooh Bear, and Simba are all characters that you can use yellow shoes for an awesome Disneybound!

Your turn!

Chill Donald Duck Disneybound by @bolewis_wc

This is a great example of how to use accessories to level-up your Disneybound!

I love how Bowen used a scarf to add the red from Donald’s color palette into his look.

Although it’s a small detail, I think it really pulls the look together and conveys a very stylish, yet chill, Donald!

Tri-Color Donald Disneybound by @disneymagickerri

Did you take a look at Kerri’s shoes? Leslie is most definitely onto something here!

Whether you buy yellow shoes or make them yourself, a pair of yellow kicks will be sure to come in handy for your future Disneybounds.

My favorite detail on Kerri’s outfit is her red bow belt. It was a perfect way to add Donald’s bow, without wearing it in her hair.

Dressed up Donald Disneybound by @disney_days_with_tim

There’s that red bow again! How cute is this?

Tim found a way to put together a fun, work-friendly Donald Duck Disneybound, and he even topped it off with suspenders!

I am a big fan of this look. I hope he wears it to Dapper Day– it is perfect!

Runway Ready Donald Disneybound by @tracihines

Traci looks ready for Disney Fashion Week (can we make that a thing?)

My favorite detail about this look is her feathered jacket! Donald is a duck after all– and feathers are a definite must for this runway look!

“Mini me” Donald Disneybound by @jeffreyajohns

This is the perfect way to dress up with kids at Disney without breaking any rules or regulations surrounding adults wearing costumes in the parks!

Jeffrey put together a fun DisneyBound that also included a red bow.

He also added yellow suspenders to hold up his white jeans, which allowed him to color block Donald’s colors perfectly.

Dapper Day Donald Disneybound by @esthervallans

This is one of my favorite Dapper Day looks that I have seen. Not to mention, Esther is such a wonderful person who I’ve met through the Disney community!

Recently, Esther even contributed to the WDW Magazine blog to tell us how to dress in costume at Disney, without breaking the rules!

Her dress is designed to look like vintage sailor dress, and she paired it with ears that she made herself!

Very cute! And look–yellow shoes!
