Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland

by | Oct 29, 2022 | California Adventure, Disneyland Parks, DLR News

Ghouls are among us as Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland spooks up the scene. Here’s how to get the most out of your ticket.

“Well, well, well, what have we here?”…

Mr. Oogie put a spell on Disney’s California Adventure (DCA). The park is transformed with festive decorations for Oogie Boogie Bash (OBB), a Disney after-hours Halloween party. Did you know, Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA replaced Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland? This special ticketed event has been happily haunting guests since 2019 and Oogie Boogie is just getting started!

At Boogie Bash, guests get the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Mr. Boogie Man himself, as well as other rare Disney characters, immersive attractions, and themed treats for this special spooktacle.

How to Get Tickets

Acquiring Oogie Boogie tickets can be a challenge if you’re not prepared. Tickets go on sale months before the event and sell out quickly. For more information on how to get tickets, visit the Disneyland website.

This year prices range from $129 to $179 per person. Keep in mind there aren’t separate prices for children (kids aged two and younger are free).

Get to the Bash Early

The party is held on select Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays during the Halloween season.

Guests can arrive as early as 3 pm. The official start time is 6 pm. After 6 pm, guests without wristbands for the event must exit the park. The event ends at 11 pm and the shops on Buena Vista Street are open until 12 am.

Where to Check In

  • Guests attending OBB will enter through DCA’s main gate located directly across from Disneyland.
  • Guests staying at the Grand Californian Hotel have direct park access from the Grand.

Signs are set out before the event, indicating this entrance is just for hotel guests attending the party.

At check-in, you will be directed to a Disney Cast Member who will scan your event ticket and give you the rest of your essentials for the night ahead (wristbands, treats, trail bag, and map covering all the basics for Boogie Bash). Add your event tickets to your Disneyland app for easy access. Each guest should add their own ticket to the app. Make sure to link the tickets to the app before you arrive.

Locations for wristbands

Pick up your wristbands from the following locations:

  • Disney California Adventure park main park entrance
  • Grand Californian Hotel DCA park entrance
  • Cars Land in between Avengers Campus

Must-See Spookacles

Carthay Circle Projections

The projections at Carthay Circle are spooktacular! You can watch the projections in line while meeting the characters if you’re on the go, or you could find a seat across from Carthay Circle.

The projections make the building come to life with creepies, crawlies, and so much more! This is a great spot to sit for the parade if you want to exit the park after the parade and as a bonus you get the ghoulish visuals as a backdrop.

Mickey’s Frightfully Fun Parade

Mickey’s Frightfully Fun Parade is a must-see at OBB! About 15 minutes before the parade starts you can see the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane from Washington Irving’s short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. You’ll see Mickey, Minnie, Jack, Sally, citizens from Halloweentown, and Disney Villains galore.

There are two parade times (7:45 pm and 10 pm). The parade route starts near Silly Symphony Swings and goes down Buena Vista Street toward Hollywood Land. I like to attend the second parade because it is typically less crowded. There’s a lot of space near the Little Mermaid attraction and the lighting is bright enough for recording video.

Mickey’s Trick & Treat show

For little trick-or-treaters coming to OBB. Head to Mickey’s Trick & Treat show at the Disney Junior Theater in Hollywood Land. This is a family-friendly Halloween show with storytelling. Kids can enjoy dancing with Mickey and his friends in their spooky costumes. Candy is passed out at the end of the performance, so everyone gets a sweet treat!

Meet Rare Disney Characters

Along the treat trails as you grab your snacks, be sure to spot the Disney Villains in their natural habitat. This year I visited all of the newest villains during the first parade. Their lines weren’t long and I got to spend more time interacting with the characters.

A fan-favorite meet and greet this year was Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle, dressed as the infamous witchy sisters from Hocus Pocus. Many guests waited several hours in line just for a photo with the trio.

A highlight for me was meeting Remy and Emile from Ratatouille on Pixar Pier. When I first walked by, Emile was investigating the nearest trash can, keeping guests laughing while they waited in line for a photo.

Holiday overlays

Holiday overlays are part of the fun of visiting the Disney Parks each season! My favorite overlay has to be the transformation of the Redwood Creek attraction.

Redwood Creek Challenge Transforms into Villain’s Grove

Villains Grove is located near Grizzly River and Soaring over the World. It is an immersive experience that engages all your senses. Projections of Disney Villains can be spotted throughout the walking tour of the Grove.

When you enter, you feel as if you have been transported to a spooky forest. The air is thick with the scent of roses for the Queen of Hearts, and the sounds of cawing birds and howling wind can be heard where Maleficent dwells. Villains Grove is unlike any other experience Disney has to offer. It is a must-see if you’re headed to Oogie Boogie Bash!

The line for Villains Grove wraps around the outside of Redwood Creek. The line will appear long, but you can check the wait time in the Disneyland mobile app. Guests with Disability Access Services (DAS) can book a return time for this experience and come back at their assigned time.

Can you Dress Up?

The best part about the Oogie Boogie Bash is that guests are allowed to wear costumes, even if they are over 14 years old. This is a rare opportunity to dress up and enjoy the park in a different way.

Remember for your trip

  • No theme park reservation is required
  • Photopass is included
  • Parking is not included
  • Tickets are non-refundable

Oogie Boogie Bash is fun for the whole family. Enjoy low crowds and live entertainment that is sure to get you in the spooky spirit. Each year this bash gets bigger and better than ever before.
