You Can Buy an Old Fort Wilderness Cabin (Yes, Really!)

by | Apr 9, 2024 | Walt Disney World Resorts, WDW Blog

As Disney gets ready to reveal the newly refurbished Fort Wilderness Cabins this summer, reports have shown that the old cabins are for sale.

Last year, Disney made the exciting announcement that the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds would be getting a new look. The new cabins will open in phases beginning July 1, 2024, as new Disney Vacation Club properties. The rustic look will include a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio that can accommodate up to six people. Plus, it’s dog-friendly! And while we’re excited to see the new cabins in person, if you’re missing the old look, you can bring it home with you — for a price.

Old Fort Wilderness Cabins and Furniture for Sale

SF Gate has reported that the old Fort Wilderness Cabins, complete with furniture, are on sale for $49,900 each. These cabins (which were first built between 1998 and 2001) are for sale through J&J Venture Group, a third-party company Disney has contracted. The cabins are 500 square feet, with one bedroom, a full bathroom, and full furnishings. If you live in the Orlando area, J&J Venture Group will deliver the cabin to you (you’ll need to pay to relocate if you’re more than 25 miles outside of Orlando). If you’re interested in learning more (or bringing one of these historical Disney pieces home!), you can click here.

Updated Fort Wilderness Cabins

Interested in staying at the new cabins? They’re available to book now for both Disney Vacation Club members and the general public. There will be more than 350 new cabins in total coming this summer, marking a big update to this staple of the resort that first opened in 1971. If you loved the previous cabins, you’ll still find some of the elements you adored. This includes room for six guests, with a private patio, bedroom, and living room. Some of the new updates will include a stove in the kitchen, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows to let in some of that beautiful sunshine! There will also be artwork paying tribute to Fort Wilderness history (including nods to River Country).
