Here’s a look at five new experiences coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels — poolside cabanas, painting classes, fishing excursions, and more!

Any frequent WDW visitor knows there is an abundance of activities and experiences at the theme parks, but what about the resort hotels? We have the inside scoop on five new experiences coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels this year!

Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew

Starting April 28, young buccaneers ages 4–12 can go on a treasure-seeking, swashbuckling adventure at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Lead by Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew, young recruits will set sail aboard a pontoon boat around Crescent Lake and follow the clues to the hidden treasure. Afterwards, youngsters are rewarded with a pirate feast that includes pirate-themed bites. Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew is $55 per child (plus tax). Reservations are now open!

Mermaid School

This spring, guests ages 4 and older can enjoy an hour-long mermaid experience at select Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. Attendees will be fitted with a swimmable mermaid tail and learn how to swim in a pool like a mermaid. This class will be offered on select dates at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Classes are $50 per person (plus tax). Reservations will open mid-March!

Poolside Cabanas

Beginning March 17, guests staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts can enjoy new luxury poolside cabanas. Each private cabana provides guests with luxury services including:

  • Padded furniture (chairs and couch)
  • Dedicated Disney cast member service
  • Cocktail service
  • Mounted television with cable access
  • Complimentary sunscreen and other skincare products
  • Mini-refrigerator stocked with complimentary soda and water
  • Complimentary fruit tray
  • Plush towels
  • Lockable cabinet
  • Charging outlets for mobile devices

Reservations for half and full day rentals are now open!

New Art Programs

Learn how to paint from a professional artist and create your own masterpiece at select Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. Classes range from $35—$50 per person (plus tax), ages 12 and older. Classes include:

  • Win, Paint, Show at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Wild About Painting, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Painting on de’ Bayou (adults), Painting by the Lagoon (kids), Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort**
  • Painting in the Vineyard, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
  • Canvas and Wine Glass Painting on the Boards, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

**NOTE: The Port Orleans kids painting class is $30 per person (plus tax); designed for ages 6 and older; accompanying parent required.

Classes take place on select dates per resort. Reservations are now open!

Fishing Excursions

Guests of all ages and experience levels can enjoy catch-and-release fishing on the Magic Kingdom Park marina. Choose between a guided excursion or dockside fishing aboard either a SunTracker pontoon (up to five guests) or a tournament-style NITRO bass-fishing boat (one or two guests). Reservations now open!
