Bhutan, Colombia, and the Baltics Added as National Geographic Expeditions

National Geographic Expeditions has announced three new land destinations that will be offered beginning in 2024. Travelers will be able to experience Bhutan, Colombia, and the Baltics.

Ready to travel around the world? National Geographic Expeditions are an incredible way for travelers to see some of the most interesting parts of the globe. Each journey is designed to reflect the National Geographic travelers’ “broad spectrum of interests,” with journeys on land, sea, and by air. And now, National Geographic has announced three new land destinations that explorers can enjoy.

We’re excited to announce travelers can visit Bhutan, Colombia and the Baltics with National Geographic Expeditions, with trips beginning in 2024!

Imagine exploring the remote kingdom of Bhutan, trekking through the beautiful landscapes of Colombia, or immersing yourself in the living histories of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia (each hundreds of years old!), which make up the Baltics. These Signature Land tours will offer incredible access and the deep knowledge foundational to National Geographic. Plus, a portion of every expedition that is booked supports National Geographic researchers and scientists around the world!

National Geographic Expeditions: New Destinations

National Geographic will introduce three exciting new Signature Land tour destinations starting in 2024. These include Bhutan, Colombia, and the Baltics, consisting of Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.

Bhutan: Land of Mysticism and Mythology

Located on the eastern edge of the Himalayas, Bhutan is a country filled with architectural wonders and natural beauty. During your trip, you’ll participate in the “butter lamp-lighting tradition,” along with enjoying a lesson in Bhutan’s national sport of archery.Additional activities will include dining with Bhutanese dignitaries, and meeting with a Buddhist scholar to take a privately guided hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

Colombia: Connections to the Land and the Past

The National Geographic Expedition itinerary for Colombia will “inspire travelers through its study of the Afro-Caribbean culture” and include a visit to the UNESCO San Basilio de Palenque, the first free town for enslaved people in the Americas. Naturalists will guide you on a hike through the wax palms of the Cocora Valley, where they will point out the various wildlife species that call it home.

At the Tayrona National Park, you’ll learn about the cotton-top tamarin and learn how the Disney Conservation Fund helps support the non-profit Proyecto Titi, which is committed to saving this endangered species.

The Baltics — Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia: Enchanted Forests and Medieval Castles

Your visit to the Baltics will include a deep dive into the history of the European countries. You’ll take exclusive excursions to Cecis Castle and Gusmanas Caves, as well as a journey to the open-air museum, Rocca al Mare. At Rocca al Mare you’ll walk through a life-sized representation of a rural fishing village from the 18th to 19th century.

You’ll take a walking tour of the UNESCO-celebrated Old Town Centers of Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn, as well as tour the royal residential palace of the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania of the 16th and mid-17th centuries.
