Decor: The Devil’s In The Details

The Cinderella pumpkins are back, but the party-exclusive decor elevates the Not-So-Scary Party experience. At night, the park is a different world.
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Julie de la Fe: “I like how the castle transforms after dark. The ghost projections and spooky colors make me happy. There were no Mickey pumpkins at our party but they magically appeared today … I love the way they seem to laugh at night.”
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Maria Salerno: “When the lights come on at dusk, the decorations truly come to life. The combination of the decorations and the lighting/fog effects completely transform the MK, and it’s incredible to see that transformation take place from day to night.”
Snacks At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2022

We gave you a shriek peek at this year’s party snacks, but now we have first-hand accounts from our taste testers *ahem* reporters. So which spooky snack had Maria and Julie spellbound? Say hello to the NEW Not-So-Poison Apple Pie Milk Shake.

🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Maria Salerno: “The best snack was the Poison Apple Pie Milkshake from Auntie Gravity’s! They blend pieces of apple pie into the (very thick and creamy) ice cream. It took the cake for me because it’s a 3-in-1 treat! Milkshake, marshmallow poison apple topper, and delicious WARM cinnamon sugar donut holes…and is very shareable.”

Sweets aren’t the only items on the not-so-scary menu. For those that prefer savory snacks, there’s the Hades Hot Dog served with house-made violet mustard, Un Poco Loco Tots smothered in Hades’ cheese sauce, and the Spellbinding Fried Pie stuffed with Buffalo chicken.

Mickey’s “Boo-to-You!” Halloween Parade

It’s baaack! Mickey’s “Boo-to-You!” Halloween Parade returns to this year’s party. The parade starts in Frontierland and ends on Main Street, U.S.A. You can catch the cavalcade at 9:15 PM and 11:15 PM on party nights.
Here’s a look at the parade’s triumphant return:

🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Maria Salerno: “My favorite moment of the parade actually happens before the parade proper—when the Headless Horseman rides! A sudden hush came over the (sold out) crowd when the Horseman rounded the bend that created an eerily perfect atmosphere for his ride.”

🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Julie de la Fe: “I love the gravediggers, the villains … the headless horseman is also pretty amazing to see in person.”
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

As a tie-in to the upcoming Disney+ release of Hocus Pocus 2, the Sanderson Sisters and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular are back!
Before you run amuck (amuck, amuck!) to the Castle Forecourt stage to see the Sanderson Sisters in action, here are the showtimes:
- August and September 2022
- 8:35 PM, 10:45 PM, midnight
- October 2022
- 7:40 PM, 8:35 PM, 10:45 PM, midnight
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Maria Salerno: “I will always love standing in the Castle forecourt during the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular—especially during the music break in ‘I Put a Spell on You’ when the audience gets to participate in chanting ‘ah say into pi alpha mani upendi’ with the Sanderson sisters! Such great energy in that moment!”
Costumed Characters

Our reporter, Julie de la Fe, saw several costumed characters at the party. There’s Mickey and Minnie, of course, but the longest meet-and-greet lines were for the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood. Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore appear together in costume. We won’t spoil how they’re dressed. You’ll have to go to the party to find out!
Elvis Stitch makes an appearance at the party as well as Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. You can meet Mickey, Jack, and Sally at Town Square Theater. (Bonus? The theater is air conditioned.)
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular

Bring your not-so-scary evening to a fiendish finish with Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2022. Look to the skies above Cinderella Castle at 10:15 PM.
Disney brings a tale of dancing skeletons, ghoulish ghosts, Disney heroes, and villains to life in spooktacular fashion. The show features projection effects, lasers, and fireworks.
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Julie de la Fe: “The fireworks are unique to the party and they are a brand new show this year! The projections are pretty spectacular and include appearances by Jack Skellington, Zero alongside Mickey and friends. Besides the projections, these are some of the most impressive fireworks Disney has. They literally fill the sky and are almost impossible to catch on camera!”
Final Thoughts: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2022

So what’s the final verdict on this year’s spooky proceedings? Let’s see what our in-park reporters said:
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Julie de la Fe: “Wow was it nice to have a full Halloween celebration back at Magic Kingdom! Spooky Music filled the atmosphere and there was excitement from Cast Members and guests of all ages. The Boo to You parade is my favorite and that just made my ‘not so scary’ heart so happy!”
🎃 WDW Magazine Reporter, Maria Salerno: “I couldn’t stop smiling all night … being back at a full party swept me away in a way I wasn’t expecting. Seeing all the costumes and trick or treating with everyone again made for such a great night. It’s always fun to be at a Party, but Disney more than delivered at bringing it back in full force this year…MNSSHP is BACK!”
