Want to put together a Disneybound that is practically perfect in every way? Check out these Mary Poppins Disneybound inspirations!
In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun—and the same goes for putting together outfits! I wanted to put together a Mary Poppins Disneybound, but I thought it was going to be kind of hard to pull off. When I think of Mary Poppins I instantly think of carpet bags and umbrellas, so it was initially pretty difficult to start thinking outside the box—or outside the carpet bag! Although I adore the costumes featured in Mary Poppins Returns with Emily Blunt, the original movie with Julie Andrews showcases the classic fashion with which associate Mary Poppins.
My favorite part of the movie is when Mary and the kids sing Spoonful of Sugar. In this scene, she wears a striped white high-collar dress shirt with a red bow, a navy blue skirt, and an apron. This is the outfit that I pulled inspiration from to put together my Mary Poppins Disneybound!

The umbrella is a souvenir I bought from Mary Poppins on Broadway in 2006. 12-year-old Aly had absolutely no idea that I would use this umbrella in a style blog, but I think she’d be proud. Disneybounding is about making what you have work. The red bowtie is actually a hairband that I’ve used in a lot of other Disneybounds, including my Snow White one! Buying the right accessories is the key to making any outfit into a great Disneybound.
For this outfit the color blocking would be:
- Red
- White
- Navy Blue
Her hair is also up in a cute little working gal bun (which is actually harder to pull off than you think). So hard in fact, that I added my Mom’s Mary Poppins-inspired hat to cover up my hair entirely! One of our favorite places to find Disneybounding accessories? The Character Bounding Company, which offers accessories and boxes to help complete your character-inspired look. From Disney princesses to villains, you’ll find touches that perfect your outfit from head to toe.
