If you have plans on Friday, July 31, you’re going to want to cancel them. WDW Magazine is hosting The Little Mermaid watch party on Instagram, and you don’t want to miss out!
If I have learned anything during quarantine, it’s how important it is to stay connected with friends—and thanks to the Internet, it is so easy! I also learned just how essential my Disney+ account is!
Although I can’t invite all of my friends over to my house to enjoy mermaid themed food and drinks while we watch The Little Mermaid, I can host a virtual party! A virtual party means even more people can join in on the fun, and that is exactly what we are doing on July 31.
Host Your Own Party!
I will be decorating my place with mermaid themed accents such as seashells and sparkles. I will also put together a DisneyBound inspired by The Little Mermaid.
I decided to go all out for this party and I can’t wait for you to join me!
How much you decide to decorate is entirely up to you. I put together a collection of photos and recipes that will help inspire your own at home mermaid party.
Here are some ideas on how you can host your own party to really get in the spirit during our virtual watch party of The Little Mermaid!
Mermaid Tail Treats
Although these may look very intricate, they were quite easy to make! I bought the mermaid tail and seashell molds from Amazon, and I bought melting chocolates from Michaels.
Use your favorite cake batter recipe to make the cupcakes. Melting chocolate can be a little finicky, so make sure you follow the instructions exactly as they are.
Once I poured the chocolate into the molds and wiped off any excess or overflow, I placed them in the freezer for 30 minutes before I popped out the chocolates.
I kept a pink theme throughout my baking process, and I found these cute cupcake cups at Michales—they were even on sale!
Pro tip: Always keep your eye out on the sale sections at your craft stores, there are always fun finds you can use later!
I used brown sugar to resemble sand and scattered the seashell chocolate around the plate to make it look like the beach. Something about the presentation makes the treats look even better!
I wanted to a lot of use out of my mermaid tail mold, so I used it to make a drink garnish. To stick with my pink theming (but of course you can use any color), I chose to make bubbly pink lemonade!
The recipe for the pink lemonade that I used can be found here, but you can make any kind of drink you’d like for your mermaid party!
Here are some recipes for other types of drinks you can make:
I thought that seafood was the perfect food for my mermaid themed party. I made cajun shrimp with creamy pasta. You can find the recipe I used here! This is one of my favorite dishes.
Here are some recipes for some other meals that you can make:
The Little Mermaid DisneyBound Styles
There are so many characters you can DisneyBound as from The Little Mermaid. Depending on your personal style there are also so many ways you can portray these characters!
Here are a few examples to help inspire you when you put together your very own DisneyBounds for the party.
