Lion King Style for your Next Safari

by | Dec 9, 2019 | Disney Style, WDW Blog

Be prepared because this past summer was the best time for Lion King fans to get their hands on themed merch thanks to the release of the live-action film!

Whenever I go to Animal Kingdom (or any Disney park for that matter) I like to be as themed as possible. Disney’s Animal Kingdom (DAK) is always a tough park to dress for and that’s mostly because it is the hottest park… it is a jungle after all! I want to stay cool but I want to wear something that isn’t just a tank top and shorts ensemble.

Now that winter is here (and the temperature is actually dropping in Florida) we have the opportunity to wear some more fun and styled outfits at DAK!

Here is a collection of my favorite Lion King inspired pieces that I have pulled from multiple labels.

Lion King Style with ASOS

This past summer ASOS launched a really great Disney collaboration that featured an array of Lion King styles. The patterns in this collection feature characters you normally don’t see a lot at The Disney Store!

Thanks to ASOS you can now rock a tie-dye shirt with Timon doing the hula printed on the front AND a flowy button down Zazu shirt! I instantly was drawn to the Zazu print because this shade of blue is one of my absolute favorite color to wear… it’s just so “summery” and it suits DAK so well.

I also think Zazu’s snarky demeanor and attitude are often overlooked, and I appreciated that he was included on something that was cute.

I bought two pieces with this print—the sweater and the button down. I liked that I could wear the long sleeve during sweater weather at the parks, and then the button down in the warmer months.

Both pieces were really easy to style, and it’s because this blue really goes with everything. I paired both tops with a pair of blue jeans. I chose to pair both outfits with white accessories because I found they complimented the cloud design featured in the pattern.

Disney X Minkpink

This collection was my favorite Lion King style drop of the summer. The brand itself is phenomenal (it’s from Australia—duh!) and when I heard they were doing a Disney collab I knew I was going to love the collection even before I saw it. I was right.

I chose the dress so that I could wear it in the summer at DAK, but when I saw the sweater, I knew I had to have it. Both the sweater and the dress have patterns that are unique to the brand—it’s nice to see something different every once and a while!

I most definitely wouldn’t wear heels to the park, so I plan on wearing this outfit to Sanaa when I visit in a few weeks!

To see more from this line I wrote about the entire collection here!

Cakeworthy

If you scroll my Instagram it is very apparent that I almost exclusively wear Cakeworthy to the parks. It’s not just because I admire the Cakeworthy team so much, but it’s because they seem to really get it. The shirts are breathable, the flannels are perfect around the waist and they keep coming up with relevant designs that are just perfect for the Disney Parks fan.

These two pieces are great for your next trip to Animal Kingdom. The flannel is perfect for the cooler months, especially when you stay for a night show! Nothing ruins Rivers of Light more than when you’re freezing.

I like to wear these flannels tied around my waist during the day, and when the sun goes down, I end up putting it on because it can actually get chilly.

Cakeworthy always comes out with the best all-over prints, and they hit it out of the park with this one!

I love when young Simba sings, I just Can’t Wait to Be King. That scene is the pattern they chose to print on this shirt and it was such a fun shirt to style!

BlackMilk Clothing

I came across these overalls on Instagram and I was pleasantly surprised that they were from BlackMilk Clothing. BlackMilk clothing is another fantastic Australian brand with really fun finds, but I was shocked to see they had a Disney collection—it’s just something I didn’t see them associated with, but I am happy they collaborated.

I can’t wait to rock this Lion King style at Animal Kingdom. Don’t they look perfect for a Tree of Life selfie? I can’t wait!

MVMT Watch

If you’ve noticed, I styled each outfit with my favorite gold watch from MVMT!

It’s a staple piece that I always include when putting together outfits for Disney World—plus it makes me on time for my FastPasses! Find the perfect watch for you by clicking here!
