Advance Lightning Lane Purchases Will Exclude International Guests

by | Jun 26, 2024 | Disney News

Beginning in late July, advance Lightning Lane purchases will be available when Disney Genie+ converts to Lightning Lane Multi-Pass. However, the new service will not immediately be available outside the U.S. and Canada.

There are big changes coming to the Disney Genie+ service later this summer. Beginning July 24, the system will be renamed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while Individual Attraction Selections will be rebranded to Individual Lightning Lanes. The new systems will also come with new rules, including the ability to purchase in advance of your trip and begin making selections before your trip begins. However, this change will be limited in nature when it debuts.

Advance Lightning Lane Purchases for International Visitors

When the new system debuts July 24, Disney World Resort hotel guests will be able to make their Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lane selections beginning seven days in advance for the length of their trip (or three days in advance for all other guests). However, this will only apply to guests in the U.S. and Canada. For international guests, they will not be able to plan their Lightning Lane passes until their arrival in the United States.

Once in the United States,if a guest is staying at a Disney Resort hotel, they can plan and make purchases for the entire length of stay (up to fourteen days). This is due to the My Disney Experience app only being intended for use in the U.S., according to Disney,

The new system will work similarly to the previous FastPass+, allowing guests to make three ride selections in advance for one park. The selections will allow one ride from Group One, and two from Group Two (you can read more about which rides are classified in each here). For Individual Lightning Lanes, two selections can be made and paid for in advance per day. Over at Disneyland Resort, the name changes will also go into effect beginning July 24, though the system over on the West Coast will essentially stay the same.
