Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is Now Open at Disney World

The highly-anticipated walkthrough attraction Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is now open for Guests visiting Disney World.

October 16th is a pretty special day for The Walt Disney Company. On October 16th, 1923, The Walt Disney Company as we know it today was formed, meaning in 2023 we’re officially celebrating 100 years. In honor of the momentous anniversary, the Disney Parks and The Walt Disney Company at large have been celebrating with Disney100, which has included new shows, attractions, entertainment, and more at the Disney Parks. And one of those attractions is the highly-anticipated Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, which is now open at EPCOT

The new walkthrough attraction includes a walking trail where guests can engage with water “in magical ways,” similar to what Moana did with the ocean. This can include a simple greeting, a high five, or a crashing wave. The tropical path is meant to immerse guests in the world of Moana in a truly unique way. At the end of the path, guests can expect to see a gigantic Te Fiti as they finish their journey. But, along the way, make sure to look out for some of your favorite characters from the film carved into the rocks!

Along with the new attraction, guests now also have the opportunity to meet Moana in the new area of World Nature. Right across from Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, you can take pictures and meet with the beloved character.

Virtual Queue

The attraction is perfect for all ages, which means it’s already off to a popular start! To manage crowds, Disney has opened up a virtual queue for the attraction. Note that you will need to be in EPCOT to register for the virtual queue, but can sign up for your spot on the My Disney Experience app once you’ve entered the park.

Currently, the ride is not implementing Lighting Lane, either through Genie+ or an individual purchase, but we will update if that changes.
