Dreamfinder and Figment Are Returning to EPCOT

Dreamfinder and Figment are officially reuniting at EPCOT, with Disney announcing a new Journey into Imagination for the fan-favorite duo.

During the closing moments of Horizons: A Carousel of Progress at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum announced that Dreamfinder and Figment will reunite for a new journey into imagination at EPCOT.

Details are extremely limited for now, but Disney confirmed that Figment isn’t going anywhere — and his original companion Dreamfinder is finally coming back.

Dreamfinder and Figment Will Reunite at EPCOT

“We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!” Mazloum announced during the presentation.

Disney hasn’t yet revealed exactly what that “new journey” will entail, including whether it means a replacement or major reimagining of the current Journey Into Imagination With Figment attraction.

There is also no announced opening timeframe, concept art, or additional information about what guests can expect. For now, the big news is simply that Dreamfinder will once again join Figment at EPCOT.

Who Are Dreamfinder and Figment?

Figment has been part of EPCOT since the original Journey Into Imagination debuted in 1983. Created as the embodiment of imagination, the tiny purple dragon has become one of EPCOT’s most recognizable characters and has experienced a major resurgence in popularity in recent years. Today, guests can meet Figment at the Imagination! pavilion, and he’s become a particularly prominent part of the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

But longtime EPCOT fans will remember that Figment wasn’t originally alone.

Dreamfinder debuted alongside Figment in the original Journey Into Imagination, serving as a whimsical inventor and storyteller who traveled in his Dream Mobile collecting sounds, colors, ideas, and anything else that could spark the imagination.

Dreamfinder remained a central part of the attraction from 1983 until the original Journey Into Imagination closed in 1998. Although Figment eventually returned in the current version of the ride, Dreamfinder did not return with him.
