Here’s your round-up of January 2022 Disney World refurbishments for closed attractions and resorts.
If you’re planning on visiting Walt Disney World (WDW) to kick off the New Year, you’ll want to know what isn’t going to be up and running during your trip.
But you won’t have to guess what’ll be open and temporarily closed in January! Each month, we compile a list of everything scheduled to undergo refurbishment in the month ahead.
So begins a new year, and what better way to see it in than with a trip to WDW? 2022 gets off to a hot start with the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. kicking off Jan. 14. There’s of course still plenty to do with The World’s Most Magical Celebration, and, hey, check it out, Typhoon Lagoon is reopening! Let’s take a look at the current refurbishment schedule!

Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain: The iconic ride closes for routine maintenance from Jan. 10–Feb. 10, 2022. Get your rides in while you can!
Walt Disney World Railroad: We’re over three years since the WDW Railroad closed for construction of the TRON Lightcycle Power Run. But word is that this train will be pulling out of the station again sometime in summer 2022.
The Chapeau: The Chapeau should remain closed through the end of 2022 barring a surprise announcement. Box Office Gifts at the Town Square Theater is still your temporary spot for mouse ears, and Bonjour! Village Gifts has commemorative gifts and artwork.
Baby Care Center: The Baby Care Center at The Crystal Palace and Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom reopened in December with a new Alice in Wonderland theme.

Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest will shut down for about three months. Photo by Cliff Wang
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain: The beloved thrill-ride will close for maintenance on Jan. 4 with a scheduled reopening in mid-April. Could we finally see the return of the Yeti?
EPCOT
Souk-al-Magreb: If you’re heading to the Morocco booth at the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, don’t bank on shopping at Souk-al-Magreb. This store is closed for refurbishments in January but should reopen in early February.
EPCOT is still in the middle of a huge transformation, so don’t be surprised to find construction walls in the former Future World.
Hollywood Studios

There are no refurbishments scheduled at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in January.
Water Parks

Ride the Crush ‘n’ Gusher again starting Jan. 2. Photo courtesy of Disney Parks Blog
Blizzard Beach: Bad news first: Blizzard Beach closes for refurbishments on Jan. 2. If last year is any indication, expect the water park to reopen sometime in March.
Typhoon Lagoon: And now, the good news! Typhoon Lagoon tags in for Blizzard Beach, opening up on Jan. 2.
WDW Resort Hotels

Uzima Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House will be open in January. Photo courtesy of Disney
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort: The Flippin’ Fins Pool closes for refurbishment in January. When it reopens in February, maintenance will commence at Cozy Cone Pool.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village: The Samawati Springs Pool closes for refurbishment from January to April.
WDW Transportation

Disney Skyliner: The Skyliner will be closed at the International Gateway, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort from Sunday, Jan. 23 to Thursday, Jan. 28, 2022. Guests can use Disney bus transportation and Friendship boat services during that time.
January 2022 Disney World Refurbishments
Rides close often for regular service and maintenance, so any unexpected closures will likely only last for a short while. If nothing else, it’s just another excuse to come back and experience the magic again.
