It’s a Disney World Schoolcation at The Four Seasons Resort Orlando

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando’s Schoolcation offers students the chance to learn and play.

The term “schoolcation” may sound like an oxymoron, but if we can make zoom meetings work, people, we can find some vacay in this new normal. As school resources move online, your home, coffee shop, local park, and even a resort can be a classroom.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort has come up with a structure that supports schoolwork sessions that are supervised and conducted in a dedicated learning space. Starting September 14th, “Schoolcation” hopes to allow kids the time they need to learn so that they can still enjoy the rest of the day at the resort.

Thomas Steinhauer, General Manager and Regional Vice President of Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort says of Schoolcation, “Many kids have been completing school work in their homes for a while now. A chance to mix up their learning environment, and combine school and playtime at the Resort, is sure to be a welcome treat and create a memory that will last a lifetime.”

How Schoolcation Works

Four Seasons Orlando Resort Schoolcation offers study sessions, a virtual learning schedule, and supervising teams. They work together to create that structure to keep students focused on their work.

Study Sessions

Four Seasons Resort Orlando is putting their empty event rooms to good use. With no big events happening these days, those empty ballrooms can now serve students who otherwise would have a hard time getting an essay done at the desk in their resort room.

The large rooms allow for plenty of social distancing between desks, with no more than six students per class session.

The rooms were designed for large gatherings, but the few students get to work in the open, airy rooms and enjoy the large windows and natural light (and WiFi). A private terrace just outside is available for breaks and soaking in the Orlando sunshine. Wait, this sounds better than my home office setup…

The study schedule is offered as either a half-day from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, or a full day from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with lunch included.

Schoolcation Schedule

  • 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Supervised virtual learning, snack break included (half-day participants depart at noon)
  • Lunch break: Students opting for a full day will order lunch off a set menu and the lunch will be delivered at the student’s scheduled lunch break time
  • 1:00 to 2:00 PM: Optional enrichment period for those with flexible schedules including Arts and Crafts and Physical Education
  • 3:00 PM: Parents pick up their child(ren)

Supervising Team

Even I work better when someone’s watching over me. The Kids for All Seasons staff, which is the Four Seasons kids’ club team (think camp counselors), will be supervising Four Seasons Orlando Resort Schoolcation and assisting the kids as needed while they work.

“Our kids’ club team members have enthusiastic, delightful personalities,” says Sarah Peltier, Director of Recreation. “They are looking forward to supporting the students while they engage in their virtual learning, and bringing fun and creativity to the afternoon enrichment session.”

Schoolcation is made available for overnight guests of Four Seasons Resort Orlando and reservations must be confirmed at least 48 hours in advance.

  • $50 per child for a half-day session (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
  • $100 per child for a full-day session (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM) This option includes lunch.

Aside from the structured study program, Four Seasons Resort Orlando offers enriching ways to learn every day.

A Parent’s Vacation, Too

Remember days during the school year when you were off work, but the kids were in school? Seems like a million years ago.

I bet parents have already been thinking what I’m about to type… the kids are in Schoolcation from 9 to noon. Time to relax!

The Four Seasons Spa

Just a few of the adults-only amenities at Four Seasons Resort Orlando include a full-service hair salon, the 18+ Oasis Pool, and relaxation lounges, and a Solarium at the Spa.

The salon offers color, cuts, and styling services by Creative Director and Master Stylist Alejandra Bell. The Spa’s Solarium boasts zero-gravity loungers with an Experience Shower and a whirlpool in each of the locker rooms.

Sounds like an experience similar to the Rainforest Room on the Disney Dream and Fantasy! If it’s anything like that, sign me up. I’ll be relaxed and ready to hang out with the kids by the time they are out of class.

The Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club

I’m not much for golfing, but you should really see me put a ball through a windmill. Like butter. But if you’re into golf, the 18-hole course here was designed by Tom Fazio, and is slated to host the LPGA Tour’s 2021 Tournament of Champions.

You’d be more likely to find me at the practice greens. Here, a computer will tell me whether or not I’m actually hitting the ball anywhere but a sandtrap—without having to go look for it.

Up to $500 Credit With Your Stay

Depending on the kind of suite you get this fall, your room credits could cover that Schoolcation fee.

With the Experience More Package, resort guests checking in through December 18th, 2020 can enjoy a hefty room credit. The credits are per night of your stay, so these can add up fast!

  • $200 nightly credit for standard guest room stays
  • $500 nightly credit for two-bedroom suite stays

These credits can be put toward ANY resort activity, so you could potentially get those structured learning sessions free-of-charge.
