We head to Zach Riddley’s Instagram for an update on the EPCOT Beacon of Magic at Spaceship Earth
The 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort is fast approaching (and have you seen all the amazing merch?), which means we are so close to the launch of so much good stuff, including the opening of the new Remy ride, KiteTails, the new Harmonious and Disney Enchantment nighttime spectaculars, and the Beacons of Magic.

What Are the Beacons of Magic?

For the 50th anniversary, Disney is transforming the park icons of all four parks. They are meant to “beckon … all to come and celebrate.”
Specifically, the transformations include:
- Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom
- Spaceship Earth at EPCOT
- Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- The Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom

Inside Look at EPCOT Beacon of Magic
Zach Riddley is one of our favorite Imagineers at the magazine. If you aren’t yet, I highly recommend following his Instagram. (And hey, give us a follow too!)
Just yesterday, Riddley gave us an up-close look at the new lighting system for Spaceship Earth. He calls it a “first-of-its-kind programmable LED lighting system invented by our very own Imagineers to integrate seamlessly into the iconic Spaceship Earth facade.”
