2022 Freshly Baked Carrot Cake Review

  • Freshly Baked Carrot Cake; $4.50
    • With cream cheese icing

“Nutty moist sweet but not too sweet. It was like a muffin in density. So pretty filling. My kids split it and were very happy. It was a decent size and I believe it was worth it. $4.50 is a great price.”

2022 Chesapeake Crab Slider Review

  • Chesapeake Crab Slider; $7.00
    • With tangy coleslaw and Cajun remoulade

“Crab cakes? I’m there. But this slider was a bit too spicy for me. I’m not into spice, but those who love spicy foods will indulge in this lil crabby patty. The slaw was crisp and the spicy sauce was plentiful. The buns were a bit dry, so you may want to turn this into an open-faced sandwich to enjoy it to the fullest. Personally, I used every bit of bun to absorb that oh-so-spicy (but yummy) sauce.”

2022 Hot Beef Sandwich Review

  • Hot Beef Sandwich; $6.50
    • With horseradish cream and pickled vegetables
“A classic beef sandwich with lots of juicy sauce. The pickled veggies added some zing that played well against the rich flavor of the beef. If you are trying a lot of foods at the fest, you might want to share this with a friend: It can be quite filling!”

2022 Beer Flight Review

  • Beer Flight; $10.00
“This flight was well-balanced with some very different flavors to try.”

1. 81Bay Brewing Co. Strawberry and Lime Wheat Ale
“I expected a bit more lime here, but it tasted more like a tangy strawberry. This is a light beer that has a creamy finish.”

2. Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale (New)
“Are you ready for fall yet? I was transported back to last October as soon as this ale hit my lips. The pumpkin flavor is strong; a perfect brew for the America Pavilion.”

3. Lord Hobo Brewing Boom Sauce DIPA
“Now, this is one hearty double IPA! If you love hoppy flavor, then be prepared to get punched in the face with it on the first sip. It’s bitter, strong, and the perfect companion to the pumpkin and strawberry ales. If you’ve never tried a DIPA before, this is a good primer.”
