A Look at the Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary Cavalcade

Courtney ReynoldsBlog, Hollywood Studios

On May 1, Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a special star-studded cavalcade… and we were there!

To say that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone a massive transformation over the last thirty years would be an understatement. When the park first opened on May 1, 1989, it gave guests a peek behind the Hollywood curtain, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how movies are made. Since then, many attractions have come and gone—you are forever in our hearts, Great Movie Ride—and the park continues to evolve into a place that doesn’t just take you behind-the-scenes, but immerses you into the movies themselves.

This transformation began with Toy Story Land, which opened last year and will soon be celebrating its own anniversary. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy opened earlier this year on Sunset Boulevard. At this new attraction, guests can learn what it takes to be a champion racer from Lightning McQueen himself.

Still to come are Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary Cavalcade

To celebrate this milestone, Disney’s Hollywood Studios hosted an anniversary celebration which included a star-studded cavalcade and a special announcement.

Before we dive in, we would like to thank Disney for inviting us to this special event!

Now, here’s a photo recap of the Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary cavalcade:

Special Announcement

After the conclusion of the cavalcade, Disney revealed a brand new logo for the park! Reception of this new logo has received mixed reviews, but I think we need to reserve judgement until we see it in action. At least we don’t have another name change!
