How Disney is Celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month

The Disney Parks will be celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th. What exactly will that celebration entail? It will include exciting new offerings in the park, including new characters to meet and delicious food to enjoy! Disney calls the celebration “Together We Are Magia,” asking the “Disney familia” to help celebrate Hispanic and Latin American cultures throughout the month.

Experiences in the Disney Parks

There will be several new experiences in and out of the parks to enjoy, along with a few specific events that Disney has highlighted for guests looking to celebrate!

Mirabel and Bruno in Magic Kingdom

Beginning September 15th, Mirabel from Encanto will be available to meet at Magic Kingdom in celebration of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month! While the character will be arriving for the celebration, Disney has confirmed she will be available to meet year-round at Fairytale Garden.

Additionally, Bruno will be joining the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade on the same day! Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade can typically be seen twice a day in Magic Kingdom and features characters such as Miguel from Coco, Judy Hopps from Zootopia, and Princess Elena of Avalor. You can check the My Disney Experience app to find showtimes for the day you’re visiting.

Encanto-Themed Photo Ops and Magic Shots at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Throughout the month, you’ll be able to snap pictures at all-new photo ops throughout Walt Disney Resort – including some new Magic Shots! At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you’ll find a new Encanto photo spot as well as Magic Shots featuring characters from Disney films like Coco, props, and Disney PhotoPass Lenses (returning to Walt Disney World Resort at large).

Snap a pic in front of the new Encanto photo-op at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or try out any of the special Magic Shots, props and Disney PhotoPass Lenses returning to Walt Disney World Resort this year.

Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure

As part of Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, you can also enjoy Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure. This is their celebration of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos.

From Sept. 1–Nov. 2., 2023, Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure Park celebrates the spirit of Día de los Muertos, plus decor and entertainment inspired by Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.” Among the activities to enjoy are “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” an entertaining street show honoring the beloved film and the everlasting bonds of family. Plaza de la Familia begins in September and takes place all the way through November. It includes festivities such as delicious Mexican food, lively entertainment, and special limited-time offerings. You can read more about Plaza de la Familia in our full guide here!

Disney Springs Art Walk

Year-round, guests can visit the Disney Springs Art Walk. But, in honor of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, the Disney Springs Art Walk will welcome TRATOS, a Miami-based Cuban couple. They will be live painting their art throughout September.

Learn to Draw Dante from Coco

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests will be able to learn to draw Dante from Coco! You can take part in this experience at The Animation Experience at Conservation Station. Additionally, guests staying at Disney World hotels can enjoy Encanto and Coco on select nights of Movies Under the Stars.

Listen to Latin and Hispanic Artists Play at EPCOT

As part of the ongoing Eat to the Beat Concert Series for the 2023 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, several Latin and Hispanic artists will perform. You can catch these performances live in EPCOT – and one particularly special performance by renowned Latin American band Bacilos will be live streamed if you’re not in the park! Bacilos is a Latin GRAMMY-award-winning group with a 20-year career in Latin pop. You can tune into the live stream on September 18 at 6:45 PM Eastern time via the Disney World Latino Facebook page or @DisneyWorld.Latino Instagram account.
